The featured artists for the month of July are Nikki Navarrete & Bret Pendlebury🎨
Come check out their work at the Island Park Art Gallery during the Artist Reception on Friday, July 12, from 5-7 p.m.
About the artists:
Nikki is a lifelong artist of many mediums originating in Southern Oregon. Her art style was solidified in abstract pen and ink in the early 2000s with strange and unusual content and imaginative characters representative of the whimsy and sorrows of her inner world. She derives inspiration from the cycles of nature and the simultaneous beauty and ramshackle of everyday life.

Bret was raised in Coconut Grove, a tropical neighborhood on the bay in Miami, Florida. Currently, he resides in Eugene. Most of his portraits are inspired by vintage photographs that he collects. Bret works with a mixture of watercolor, acrylic, gouache, ink, and colored pencil.

Artist Bio:
I am an emerging artist, working primarily in photography. I currently live and work in Eugene, Oregon. I have always loved art and being creative. In 2020 I wanted to find something that I could do at home that would be creative and make me feel happy. I started really wanting to get into photography and that is when my husband bought me a camera for our anniversary. I wanted a camera that could take great pictures of birds, have a good built in zoom lens, and be able to capture pictures of the moon. So, my husband surprised me with a Nikon P950 camera that summer. That is when I discovered my passion for photography. I love taking photographs of animals and scenery. I don't edit any of my photographs, I like to show the beauty of nature as it is. I want my photographs to evoke the same sense of joy and happiness in those who view them as they do for me. Being able to capture photographs of one of a kind amazing moments brings me great joy and happiness. I love being able to share incredible moments in time with the world through photography.

Drop off your old newspapers in the Willamalane Adult Activity Center lobby to support native plant growth!
Newspaper donations needed!📰🗞
Willamalane is collecting newspaper donations in the lobbies at Bob Keefer Center and Willamalane Adult Activity Center, which will support native plant growth in riparian areas. The newspapers will act as w**d barriers for hundreds of newly planted native trees and shrubs...that means, we need all the newspapers we can get! Help spread the word to gather as many donations as possible before planting begins on March 8. Thanks for the help!
