I remember back in high school, when I had dreams of becoming a lawyer. I was in AP Government and Politics and deeply involved in debate club—politics was always on my mind. I spent so much time reading research articles, watching the news, and diving into the issues. My community was small, and my world was narrow. During my first election, when I was finally old enough to vote, I was terrified that if my candidate didn’t win, everything would fall apart. I thought freedom would end, the economy would collapse, and conflict would be inevitable. It was a scary time.

But guess what? My candidate didn’t win, and yet, here I am years later. We made it through. That election taught me a valuable lesson: we all come from different perspectives and have our own experiences that shape how we vote. We’re lucky to have checks and balances, four-year terms, and a lot of freedoms.

This election is close, and I don’t know which way it’ll go. But don’t let anyone make you feel like everything is doomed if your candidate doesn’t win. We’ll be okay. We can work together to solve problems and try to understand each other. I believe the missing piece is finding common ground. Instead of focusing on what divides us, we should focus on where we agree. Even in areas where we’re far apart, we can still respect each other and know that it’s okay to disagree.

Tomorrow will be okay, I promise. I know this might sound naive to some, and maybe it is, but I’m not going to let this election steal my joy. Life is hard enough as it is, right?

Taking a moment to just be where I am. It’s so easy to get caught up in planning for the future or dwelling on the past, but there’s something powerful about being fully present. I often struggle with this, especially here on social media, where the noise—opinions, emotions, conflict—can feel overwhelming. I’d love to hear how you manage your social media use. How do you engage here without letting it get too heavy? As someone who relies on this space for my business, I’m feeling the pull of burnout and know I need a better way to coexist with it. Any advice—especially from fellow business owners—is so appreciated! ❤️

This summer, I had the honor of capturing some truly special sessions with senior horses. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly—to capture the beauty and dignity of these aging horses, honoring their journey and the deep bond they share with their people. It’s a gift for a horse to have someone so devoted to them, especially in their golden years. Documenting these connections is something I’m incredibly grateful for.

The valley is transforming with autumn—the leaves are turning, and temperatures have taken a sharp drop. I’ve cleared out my summer garden and am eagerly awaiting the falling leaves to tuck in my fall veggies and herbs. As winter approaches, I’m preparing for a slower pace. Winter is always bittersweet; it gives me the chance to catch my breath and be more present with my family, but I know I’ll miss the creative connections photography brings.
