Thank you to everyone that came out last night! We enjoyed seeing all the kiddos and their parents. We had such a good time and enjoyed a bit of normalcy with our community that we love so much.

We wanted to thank everyone for their support. Your donations, kind words, hugs, messages, and shares are appreciated more than you know. We are overwhelmed with gratitude! People are so good!

We are so excited to start working (small-scale) on Monday. Please remember to place your orders a few days prior, especially if you want a specific floral because we don’t have a cooler. Please see my previous posts about payments and updated phone number!

Please keep sharing our posts and getting the word out! We still need your help desperately. We appreciate you all! 🧡

Spruce Pine Florist // Rebuild Update

Guys!! 🤗

We wanted to let you know we are beginning to temporarily work out of “The Market on Oak” building Monday, Nov. 4. While this building is sitting empty, someone crafted the idea that all the retail businesses on lower street that were left devastated, move into this building temporarily. With the other vendors, this will give a sense of community and normalcy. The exact address for this temporary location is:

262 Oak Ave, Spruce Pine, NC 28777

Because we will have a limited space to work out of, with no cooler, our inventory will remain limited. We are able to get specific flowers but we will need to know 1-2 days prior before you want that something specific. We can deliver but the address must be safe to reach and we will need a phone number. We realize most flower deliveries are surprises, so we will not call unless there is an issue with delivery. Please do not call our landline, call (828)385-6172 to place your orders.

We are also still without a credit card terminal. We are in the process of getting a new one but for the time being *cash and Venmo* is the only ways we can receive payment. We have created a Business Venmo account that will remain an option for payment. I have posted that in this post’s carousel.

With all of this being said, we still need your help. We are taking steps in the right direction but at a very reserved pace. We have a long road ahead of us before we get back to where we were before the devastation. Please keep sharing our posts and GoFundMe link. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Please come out and see us so we can hug each one of you in person. We don’t think you’ll be disappointed with all the stellar people we’ll be working along side of. People that have been apart of this mountain community for years. We all need a sense of normalcy and this is the first step towards it for us on lower street.

Thank you and we love you all!! Come see Steph and me!🫶🏻✨💗

Good afternoon friends! I wanted to hop on here and tell you guys THANK YOU, again! Your shares and donations have made a difference and I will remember it for the rest of my life.

However, we still need help. We met with our insurance adjuster today at our shop (which is currently ripped apart) to confirm what we had already been told. Insurance is NOT going to cover anything of our loss.

I am starting from a blank slate with absolutely nothing spared. No government help is being offered except for loans. As a new business owner, that is not really a great option for me.

So, I ask you again and for the foreseeable future, please keep sharing my posts and our GoFundMe link. I am sorry for the overload but I fear this is going to be my main financial source to rebuild and get my business back.

I’ve only owned Spruce Pine Florist for four short months, but I have put in years of hard work. We will come back and it will be better than ever before. And when that time comes it is going to be because of YOU.

Again thank you! I am forever in your debt.

Spruce Pine Florist Update // Hurricane Helene

We wanted to give you guys a quick update. We are working to get into a temporary space on upper street in Spruce Pine. This would be a limited space. We will be working at a limited capacity, but hopefully this will give us a sense of normalcy, as well as some for our customers. This plan is not yet confirmed but we have a good feeling about it. If this is confirmed we will make a post stating all the details!

We wanted to take the time and thank everyone for your love and support. Whether you share our posts, donate, or simply send us a message, we appreciate you so so much.

We want to ask that everyone keep us in their prayers for the months to come. As well as keep sharing our posts and GoFundMe link. You don’t know how much sharing our posts on your story or to your page does. It’s the number one way to continue showing support for us. We still have a long road ahead of us before we are back to normal and at full capacity.

Again thank you, thank you! 💗

Spruce Pine Florist Update!

We wanted to give a few updates pertaining to our sweet flower shop and the days ahead.

We are still not operational, and we don’t know when we will be. We hope to find a temporary space sooner than later. The town of Spruce Pine may not be operational for some time because the sewer system washed away and we have no water. But we are working to get back up and running asap! We also wanted to say if you have emailed, direct messaged, or texted us, we are getting back to those as soon as possible. Service is still spotty and my access to internet is very limited.

We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for sharing our GoFundMe and/or donating. You don’t know how much you mean to us and we will remember it for the rest of our lives. We want to also thank the volunteers that cleaned our shop out. You rock and we appreciate you all so so much!

We also wanted to clarify the financial situation we are in. We’ve been to meetings and gathered information and FEMA is *not helping*. This includes all the other stores and restaurants destroyed in lower street. Our only option and resource right now is to apply for loans. Yes, most of them have a low interest rate, but they are still loans. There are no grants to be had in Mitchell County for the time being. Flood insurance was not obtained because our shop is not in a “floodplain” (this also pertains to the other stores downtown). So most insurance policies will not cover this disaster.

So we ask you again and for the foreseeable future, please continue to share our story. Please share on all platforms. We lost all of our inventory, display furniture, equipment, etc.

Again, you don’t know how much we appreciate each share or donation. We will keep you updated as things progress. We love you all so much and we can’t wait to deliver flowers to you all!! 💗

{ Kim here! 👋🏻💗
A little bit of my story and Spruce Pine Florist…

My name is Kimberly Wise, previously Welsh. I’ve lived and grown up in Spruce Pine, North Carolina my entire life.

I graduated from Mitchell High School and went to Lees-McRae College and received a bachelor’s degree in business. I studied business because I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. During college I was working full time at DT’s Blue Ridge Java and one day I randomly decided to walk down the street and ask Stephanie Medford (who I had only met by way of DT’s) if I could volunteer for free and help her on my days off. I had always had a green thumb and a love for anything that grows in dirt, so I thought I might as well give it a chance.

Turns out I LOVED it. I was also surprisingly talented at it. I would volunteer every free day I had for 2 years. Then one day I asked Stephanie to come on full time. My first day was the first Monday of January 2022.

Stephanie has taught me everything I know. From casket sprays to corsages. She taught me how to deal with each life situation that people were going through. Stephanie taught me a lot more than flowers though. She taught me what being truly selfless looks like. She has showed me love and kindness. She has shaped who I am and who I will become. She’s been a confidant and one of my best friends. She has believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. To know Stephanie is to love her and so many of you do.

That’s why we did not come out right with my purchasing of the business in July. I am only 23 years old. Welsh is not a common name in this area and I am young. In Mitchell County and surrounding areas, it’s about who you know. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, but many people would not know who I am. Although I own the business now, Stephanie is still at Spruce Pine Florist. She has no plan on leaving and I plan on keeping her for as long as she’s willing.

Although I’m young, I have worked hard to be where I am. I have put blood, sweat, and tears (quite literally) into this flower shop. I have made lifelong relationships with customers, who are more like family now. When I walked into the shop at the age of 19, I knew it was going to be my career. I have never felt a passion and calling for anything like I do for flowers. I wanted a job that made a difference, while I could also express my creativity. Some may say they’re “just flowers” but I would have to disagree. I can’t begin to tell you the way my heart swells when someone says you made a casket spray that represented their loved one so well. Or when someone is having a bad day and they break down in tears on their doorstep when they get flowers that I made and delivered. Or when I do wedding florals that are going to be remembered on the best day of someone’s life. It’s a deeply personal business, and I’ve seen people at their best and worst.

Lastly, I want to say I have been blessed! Blessed beyond measure. I thank God every day that I decided to walk down to the flower shop on some random day in 2020. I thank God for Stephanie everyday. Without her, my dreams may not have become a reality. And I thank God for steering me in the direction of a business degree, He knew it’d come in handy one day.

I am not one to ask for help. I think I can do it all, but in reality I can’t. I can’t go back in time and stop this catastrophe from happening. I can’t make the government help me and the surrounding businesses. All I can do IS ask for help at this point. I would not be asking for help if I did not need it.

With all that being said, thank you. Thank you for sharing and thank you for your donations. I appreciate each and every action taken to help Spruce Pine Florist. This little shop means the world to me and I will remember everyone that has helped me for the rest of my life. If you are able, please keep sharing my posts, our business page posts, and our GoFundMe link.

I love you all and thanks for reading! 🫶🏻🫶🏻 }

SPRUCE PINE FLORIST UPDATE // HURRICANE HELENE

We’d like to preface this by saying we are extremely blessed. Our families are safe and well. Many were not as fortunate and our hearts are heavy.

As many of you already know, the town of Spruce Pine was flooded on September 27th due to Hurricane Helene.

Our shop was hit extremely hard. We lost everything within and our building suffered damage.

We do not know what the weeks ahead will hold for us, but for the time being we are not operational. We will likely move into a temporary space, as repairs could take months. No plans have been made, but we’re optimistic.

We will keep you guys updated as we solidify plans. We will continue to pray for our community, family, and friends. Please remember our neighboring stores and restaurants on lower street in your prayers.

Please feel free to reach out via social media if we can help anyone, in anyway. With service being spotty, we will reply as quick as possible. We will answer emails when possible.

Our sweet mountain town has a long road ahead of it but we know we’ll come back 10x stronger than before.

We love and appreciate each and every one of you and can’t wait to serve you again soon. 💜

- Kim and Stephanie
