Chase, our Event Manager, provides excellent customer service to everyone he works with and always has a positive attitude. He is willing to help out where needed and takes on tasks with no questions asked. Chase continues to receive outstanding comments from his clients. He also co-leads the planning committee for our Helping Hands event scheduled for December 18, 2024. We are grateful to have him on our team!

What a great weekend at the Gateway Outdoor Expo + Summit! Over 2,000 outdoor enthusiasts gathered for an action-packed event full of inspiration. 🚴‍♀️🌲 We loved seeing so many passionate adventurers connect and share ideas about how to protect and enjoy the great outdoors. From the rock climbing wall and bike track to the photos with Santa in a canoe, we hope the exhibitors, speakers, and attendees had a fun time. 🌄

The NARBC: North American Reptile Breeders Conference was back in town on November 9-10! 🐍 With over 200 booths featuring reptiles that slithered, crawled, and wowed, this year's event drew more than 5,000 people in the building over the two exciting days. We're so glad to have cold-blooded friends back again and can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2025! 🦎🐢

St. Charles Convention Center Welcomes Katie Nimtz as New Marketing Manager.

St. Charles, MO – The St. Charles Convention Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Nimtz as its new Marketing Manager. Katie will lead the development and ex*****on of marketing strategies to promote the Convention Center’s events, facilities, and services, further strengthening its position as a premier destination for conventions, meetings, and special events in the region.

With an extensive background in marketing and communications, including over six years of experience in nonprofit marketing, Katie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position. Most recently, she served as Marketing and Communications Manager at Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, she led numerous successful campaigns, expanding the organization’s visibility and strengthening its brand presence throughout the region through brand printing, digital marketing and public relations. She prepared creative newsletters showcasing donor campaigns and the newly opened facility for seriously ill children and their families.

“We are excited to have Katie join our team at the St. Charles Convention Center,” said Mark Tenholder, General Manager of St. Charles Convention Center. “With her proven track record of creating compelling marketing campaigns and growing brand awareness, we are confident that she will be instrumental in enhancing our visibility and attracting even more high-profile events to our facility.”

In addition to her professional expertise, Katie currently serves as the President of the Missouri State Jaycees, where she leads initiatives across the state. She also served as the 74th President of the St. Charles Jaycees in 2022. Her focus is creating young leaders across the state to continue to have a positive impact in the community.

“I am excited to take on this new challenge with the St. Charles Convention Center,” said Katie Nimtz. “The Convention Center is a vital part of the St. Louis region, and I look forward to working with the team to showcase all it has to offer to a broader audience.”

Katie holds a degree from Ferris State University and is known for her creativity, leadership, and passion for developing effective marketing strategies. With a commitment to excellence, she is poised to help the St. Charles Convention Center continue to grow as a top destination for events and conventions in the Midwest.

🏆 October Employee of the Month: Joe Marts
Joe is a great asset of the Operations Department often referred to as the “Swiss Army knife” of the team, as he assists with Security, IT and Event Setup whenever needed. He quickly stepped up to become the official forklift operator supporting the lower loading dock, outside storage and the Security Department. He is extremely reliable and can always be counted on across all departments at a moment’s notice. Thank you for all you do, Joe!

St. Charles Convention Center Welcomes Brian Hardesty as New Executive Chef

Brian Hardesty has been a hospitality professional for over 30 years. Primarily working in fine dining establishments as an Executive Chef since 2008 such as Harvest, Terrene, Element, Winslow’s Home, and others.

In 2011, Hardesty opened up one of the city’s first food trucks and one of the first Filipino American concepts the St. Louis area had ever seen called Guerrilla Street Food. Over the next decade, Hardesty would also come to create his own hospitality & entertainment consulting company, Maven Bureau which landed its expertise to a large number of concepts both locally, and around the country.

At the start of 2019, Chef Hardesty co-created 9 Mile Garden located in Affton, MO. Two years later, he helped create and opened its sister location in Cottleville, MO called Frankie Martin’s Garden. With those concepts going strong, Hardesty has taken on an ownership role in those companies and has entered back into commercial kitchens at the Executive level. Bringing his expertise in many styles of food and his attention to detail, high standards, and quality control to elevate any kitchen he steps in to.

“We are beyond thrilled to welcome Chef Brian to our team,” said Mark Tenholder General Manager of St. Charles Convention Center. “His creative approach to cuisine, coupled with his experience in managing both intimate dining and large-scale events, will elevate our offerings and continue to delight our guests. Cody joins the St. Charles team with a wealth of experience in event management and a proven track record of leadership within the industry.

Cody Thomas began his career with OVG in 2016 as an Event Manager of the Owensboro Convention Center, where he quickly demonstrated his dedication and talent in overseeing successful events. His passion for delivering exceptional experiences and his ability to manage large-scale events led to his promotion in 2020 to Director of Events. In this role, Cody led a team of event professionals and played a pivotal role in streamlining operations, improving client satisfaction, and ensuring flawless event ex*****on.

A proud member of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), Cody recently achieved the Certified Venue Professional (CVP) designation, further solidifying his expertise and commitment to the industry. His combination of hands-on experience, leadership, and professional certifications makes him an invaluable addition to the St. Charles Convention Center team.

Lisa works in the culinary department and always has a smile on her face. Lisa keeps the kitchen clean and tidy. Lisa consistently goes above and beyond to make sure the culinary team walks into a clean area when they start their shift. She has stayed late and always offers to pitch in last minute. Lisa is an asset to our staff, and we’re so glad to have her on our team!
