Join Jill Firns and Elena Sampson for Q***rtown Underground at Platypus in the Grove. Starting 4/19/23, we're taking over the whole swanky spot including the gorgeous patio every third Wednesday from 7:00pm - 10:30pm. No outside food is allowed at Platypus as they share space with Eat Duckbill.

JOSS BARTON is a writer, journalist, and spoken word performance artist exploring and documenting q***r and trans* life, love, and liberation. Her work blends femme-fever dreams over the soundtrack of the American nightmare. Combining prose poetry, non-fiction confessional essays, drag artistry, and spoken word stage performances, Joss examines the myriad states of q***r trans womanhoods from historical, political, and pop cultural identities of death, desires, dreams, and disco.

We have a special treat happening this Wednesday at Q***rtown! STL-based q***r rope group Haus Des Gummihuhns will be present with suspension, floor, and solo acts of rope. They will be able to answer questions and show some basics of rope art as well!

Our second performer tomorrow night is... Andrew Genius! ✨Coming up on his fourth year of performing as a drag king, Andrew Genius continues to make a name for himself! He first started in Lincoln, Nebraska, capturing the titles of Mr. Fire and Brimstone, Mr. Midwest Esquire, and Drag Idol, but now he's back in his hometown of St. Louis where he was crowned the first ever Sexy Jesus of Aurora STL. With a love for all things campy and sexy, Andrew will have you screaming his name in no time. He is thrilled to bring his talents to Q***rtown Underground and to present The Mullet of the Midwest!

Rocky is a queen who implements comedy, dance, and theatre into their performances. They have about twenty hyperfixations going on at once, so please, be warned: if you ask her about Star Wars, Baldur’s Gate or Kingdom Hearts, she *will* talk about it. A lot.
She has been performing since 2018 and mainly performs in St. Louis and Belleville.

Lucius McQueen is an interdisciplinary artist who showcases comedy, strong emotion, and vulnerability within their songs. Lucius is also the owner and operator of Doorstop Studio, a rentable evolving creative studio space that currently focuses on podcasting, rehearsal space, and individual music lessons. Through their own music and physical studio space, they strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for artists of all backgrounds to explore their creativity and hone their craft. Lucius believes in the transformative power of art and aims to foster connections within the artistic community by providing resources, guidance, and encouragement.
