Our Story

Vintage Vibe. Superior Service.

The Thaxton is a historic Art Deco venue that specializes in boutique style weddings and events. The Thaxton is also host to a downtown underground lounge a.k.a. Thaxton Speakeasy, when not privately booked.

The building was constructed in 1927, originally for Eastman Kodak Corporation, for use as a retail camera store. Much of the original architecture is still intact, with nods to it’s original use in the woodwork, moulding, insets, and metal balusters. The space was a prototype for what Kodak hoped to be another 100 identical buildings, to be erected throughout the United States. However, The Great Depression hit and squashed Kodak’s hopes of achieving those numbers.

The building was the project of renowned architects Klipstein and Rothmann. Also known for the downtown STL Civil Courts Building, Bevo Mill, and many other projects for the Anhieser Busch family.
