Acne is an inherited inflammatory condition of the pores. Acne-prone pores contain abnormal sticky skin cells (corneocytes) & are plagued with retention hyperkeratosis, which is an overabundance of skin cells that shed rapidly. Healthy pores shed about 1 layer of dead skin cells per day inside the pore, but acne-prone pores shed about 5 layers of dead skin cells per day. Because the acne-prone pore experiences both sticky cells & accelerated shedding, the pore then becomes clogged. Due to these two key factors, the body has a difficult time keeping the pore clear, & once blockage occurs within the pore, P. acnes bacteria proliferate.

As the dead skin cells begin to accumulate inside the pore, sticky cells get stuck inside the pore & form a plug. Hormonal fluctuations trigger more oil production inside the pore, which normally isn’t a problem because the dead skin cells don’t get trapped. However, with acne-prone skin, when the dead skin cells shed more quickly & form a blockage, it creates the perfect environment for the P. acnes bacteria to thrive and multiply. The trapped oil is a nutrient for the bacteria, which adds to the problem.

Acne sufferers don’t have to resort to antibiotics or Accutane, which often do more harm than good. A lot of people resort to antibiotics to treat their acne, but there’s a reason why antibiotics aren’t always effective. The root cause of acne is not bacteria, which means antibiotics only address part of the issue. Bacteria are just a symptom of the body recognizing the plug of dead skin cells as a foreign invader. It then sends white blood cells to the area to fight off this perceived invader. The solution lies in products that pe*****te the pore, prevent dead skin cells from building up, & fight inflammation. That’s why every acne client’s home care routine is so crucial, because it’s all about preventing acne from forming in the first place.

Dermaplaning is hands down one of my favorite treatments! To all my gym girlies! 📣 Let’s talk about the gym and skin! 🏋🏻‍♀️

Sweating can cause acne or breakouts for so many people, but guess what? It can also help with acne by relieving stress, balancing blood sugar levels, and improving overall wellness! It's all about maintaining acne-safe habits during your workouts.

Remember, avoid touching your face while you're working out to prevent spreading bacteria that can lead to breakouts. Instead of using a regular gym towel, bring a disposable Clean Skin Club Towel to wipe away sweat. Trust me, it's better than using a towel provided by the gym.

Be mindful of what your face touches, especially when doing stretches or yoga on a mat.

If you're into wearing makeup at the gym, try opting for an acne-safe tinted sunscreen instead of heavy makeup. It won't trap sweat and clog your pores.

After your workout, give your face a spritz of Hydrinity's Hyacyn Active Mist to kill any pathogens or bacteria from sweat.

Lastly, don't forget to shower and do your full skincare routine as soon as you get home.

It’s a common myth that Dermaplaning will make your hair grow back thicker or darker. This is NOT true.

Dermaplaning is a method of exfoliation that removes the outer layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face using a sterile surgical scalpel.

It does not affect the hair follicles or change the hair growth pattern. The hair that grows back after Dermaplaning will be the same texture and color as before.
