Warning long post 🙂

As 2023 comes to a close , I have to mention and thank my co-founder , friend and business partner, Steve Friedman.

Steve is retiring (well deserved) , after nearly 39 years in business together.

Steve and I met in the late 70s at Six Flags. I was still in high school and he in college. We both worked in the “Show Department” doing ridiculously cool things at our ages . Steve was my seasonal supervisor as we started our pre CPG business with a third friend Jim Boyd who passed away a few years ago from Covid . Jim left the business early on and Steve and I have run the businesses since .

While we are very different, Steve alway claimed he was smarter because he went to Brown U. Steve was the cool, calm guy in our partnership . A steady hand , and our oppositeness ( word)? made our relationship work . Most marriages, partnerships etc don’t last 38 plus years. For those who care our first pre cpg business was called Plain Label Creative Services . Our first client was Six Flags. We had no money and started our business with $300.

The fact that the two of us and our teams got to do thousands of projects throughout the world is Crazy . From producing Inaugurations, concerts , to the best clients events and projects in the Fortune 500 , humbles us still . Not to mention our teams’ winning of over 300 national industry awards.

Steve , congratulations and thank you ! Thank you for your partnership , compassion, work for our team , clients and our community. While it’s a new chapter for you , we know you won’t be far . I wish everyone in any kind of relationship that you have a partner like like Steve Friedman.

As an experiential agency, nearly all of our event projects have some sort of video production element to them. Like a true elder millennial, we're a few days late posting this as we cling to our "mid- to late-thirties" while shuddering thinking of turning 40 in just a couple years.

But a cause for celebration nonetheless. Keith Alper and Steve Friedman founded this agency 38 years ago as kids who had no idea we'd grow into one of the nation's top experiential agencies. Thanks to all of our amazing people, clients, partners and those who have supported us along the way!

Sharon Reus joined us 9 years ago and quickly worked her way up through the leadership ranks to lead this agency as President. And to say Jill Hampton keeps the trains on the tracks around here is a severe understatement. In her 3 years as administrative assistant and office manager, she gets us all where we need to be, and keeps us fed, watered and nurtured. Thank you Jill!
