Over the course of the past several years of performing magic at El Paso RT1 Alexandria, I have had quite the following of young apprentice magicians. Many of whom have joined our local junior magicians group known as the Capitol Conjurours. Tonight a young man came with his parents and they said that they were moving out of the area for his Dads work, but just wanted to come by and say good bye and thank you to me for being an inspiration to their son. They told me that he had a genuine interest in magic, much like myself but hadn’t known where to begin to learn. I had taught him a few simple beginner tricks over the past several months and he’s become very good at them. They also said that they had the hardest time finding something to help him learn to read at the library and couldn’t get him to read any books. But since I began teaching him a few tricks that he now has signed out several books on magic and has found such an interest in it, that he reads about magic all the time. I was so honored to be the one to help this young man start his journey in magic. Coincidentally, a couple weeks ago, I was looking through some of my magic items I had sitting aside at home and was waiting to see him again so I could pass them on to him. I gave him a deck of “magic cards” tonight so he could really start learning magic and fool people. His parents couldn’t believe that I had done this for him and watched on as I sat and taught him a few tricks using the deck of cards. It was such a rewarding experience to know that I was able to share the gift of magic to a young man who has such a genuine love of the Art of Magic just like I did as a child. So thankful that God has given me such an awesome gift to share.
