Still waiting to hear on the status of the show. It doesn't look good. This damn virus is closing everything. But what is more important? In the long run, a human life.

We're hoping to re-open the show soon. It all depends on what happens with the health situation in Southern California.

An excerpt from TAMING THE LION:

MAYER Someone from the press---I won't say who---saw you the other night with your little "buddy boy" driving
into the parking lot of the Beverly Hotel with two sailors. And I think it's a safe bet to say it wasn't a meeting to discuss the seventh fleet. Two sailors? You deny this?

HAINES Categorically. We did not pull in that lot with two sailors.

Beat.

MAYER Do you swear?

HAINES Yes. There were three. I keep an extra in the trunk.

Mayer explodes.

MAYER JESUS CHRIST!! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER FROM YOU?? WHY THE HELL CAN'T YOU BE SERIOUS?

HAINES I like to see the humor in things. I think you know that.

MAYER Humor. Look, Billy--- I find Charlie Chaplain funny. I find Harold Lloyd funny. Buster Keaton, ten years ago, I found funny. You, I don't find funny at all. So don't try and be a comedian.

HAINES Okay, seriously. Mr. Mayer, I am of a certain persuasion. Yes. I will admit that. But I don't hurt anyone, and I'm not ashamed of who I am.

MAYER Really? I am. I'm totally ashamed. And may I mention again that you have a morals clause in your contract? It cost me dearly to keep that story out of the papers.

The conflict in TAMING THE LION: William Haines was constantly under pressure by the studio to keep his sexuality a secret. Louis B. Mayer was afraid he would lose money if word got out, and he'd go bankrupt. So what is a greedy man to do? Do the words blackmail and deceit come to mind? NEXT STOP: Theatre40 in Beverly Hills---March 13-April 13. World Premiere
