Our youngest son is one year old today 🥹 Julian. Mr. Grumpy Face. Juju.

This was my first time doing a cake smash for one of my children. When Jaden & Jonathan were born, studio photography wasn’t my thing. Most of my portrait sessions took place at a park or inside of a home. So this was pretty cool.

Julian has so much character, and I think I captured some of it. He can be very serious, but he’s also very giggly. He loves Ms. Rachel and will stop everything he’s doing to sing “Can You Say Mama?”

I knew without a doubt that he would dive right into the cake I baked for him. He’s the greediest baby I know 😁 He got really upset when Roody snatched him up because he started making a mess.

It’s ok, Juju. You will have sooooo much more cake for the rest of your life.

Also, I love that I caught him when he had his hand to his ear like a phone and was saying, “A-oh?” 🥹 Happy birthday, my love 💜

Lakya hired me from her branding session 3 years ago. So my eyes went 😳 and then 🥲 when I saw the maternity inquiry with her name in it.

She is a woman who knows what she wants—she had a vision for her branding and I knew she would have a vision for this session. We worked hard to make it happen and I’m really proud of what we came up with 😍

As we worked on moving out of the photography studio last July, my brain immediately went into survival mode to try to figure out what to drown my sorrows in. So I decided to start working on the business plan that Roody and I had come up with earlier in 2023, which wasn’t supposed to come to fruition for at least 2 years.

We would sell cupcakes. That was the plan. But I didn’t know how to bake cupcakes. So I needed to practice. Oh, and I’m milk-protein intolerant. So why not go the vegan route?

And that’s how Liquid Bliss Vegan Delights was born. Well, that’s the short version. I’ll write up the full story for the blog tomorrow 🤗

We went from planning to have a 2-year trial run to only doing a 2-month trial before becoming official. We began shipping all over the country. I currently have 40 vegan cinnamon rolls, 24 vegan red velvet cinnamon rolls, and 24 vegan fudge brownies in my order queue to be shipped to Georgia. And I have to ship 2 vegan vanilla cake jars to Indiana.

It’s been a wiiiiild journey, and my entire family has been thoroughly enjoying it 😋

It’s my 33rd birthday 🥳

I thank God for allowing me to see another year. It’s going to be an amazing year. I can already tell. Things are different, but they’re looking up. So I’m keeping positive that God is just going to allow us to soar this year.

We’re currently in NYC. We had dinner at a vegan restaurant last night and we’re going to check out a vegan bakery this afternoon. I’m soaking up this time away from all of my sponserbileries 🥲

If I could spend the rest of my life capturing the beauty of pregnancy, I would.

As I finished up these photos, I kept saying, “I wish I could print these and hang them in the house.”

Pregnancy is so beautiful. If you have had a journey to motherhood similar to mine (or like ) then you might look at pregnancy and maternity with a different kind of vision.

It’s a miracle. It’s a huge blessing. It’s an honor. And to capture motherhood like this is just—🥹 I love it so much.

I couldn’t think of a better way to start the new year than posting about my friend, Vanessa, and her latest maternity session with me. My faves are having another baby! 💙

We recreated some of the poses we did 2 years ago. Sooooo many beautiful images were created, and I’m excited to share them with you on the blog. Tomorrow, hopefully.

Listen, it’s after midnight and I clearly don’t follow the rules of the algorithm. But I promise to post at least 7 times per week until the end of the year. That’s how much backed up content I have. New year, new LarJ.

Jonathan’s favorite cake is chocolate cake. What’s yours?

Mine is any flavor, to be honest. I just really like cake. It’s a good thing I own a [vegan] bakery, right? 🤭

Anyway, I did 30 cupcakes + a mini cake for Jonathan’s class. His cake was secretly chocolate and all of the cupcakes were vanilla. He told me he was pleasantly surprised when he dug his fork in.

Since we moved out of the studio, I lost a lot of my fake cakes. I’m either going to have to buy new few cakes or start baking real ones for my clients 🤔

It was a whole production! 🤩 We all got super quiet when we heard John open the door.

I don’t know about anyone else, but my heart was racing. I must have gone over my camera settings at least 8 times before they showed up. But I felt so much pressure to perform 😅

Anyway, it all worked out perfectly. It was a beautiful, elaborate proposal, and I love that for them 🥹
