Today, a great man was laid to rest.
A man who stood for faith, progress, and community. A man who wasn’t afraid of hard work, long hours, or thankless unnoticed efforts. A father, a husband, a son, a brother, and a friend. A champion for our community and the people within it.

James had the wit as sharp as a tack with a heart as kind and soft as the billowing clouds in an East Kentucky sky. James was nothing short of an East Kentucky sky, either. Bold, adaptable, profound, eloquent, distinct, and unforgettable.

James is absolutely unforgettable.

We will never forget the kindness and helpfulness James has extended to our family throughout the years. There are few people in this world with the grit that James had, and even fewer with the heart to go along with it. Our community has suffered a great loss, but we will never forget the life, influence, and legacy James Anderson has left behind.

Thank you, James, for being an exceptional example of what a Powell Countian should be. We know you were greeted in heaven with a “well done my good and faithful servant.” We will be praying for those who loved and respected you, until we all meet again.

Rest in peace, James.
