I remember dangling my fingers along those leafy branches as row after row stretched out before my young eyes. My feet flew to catch up with my daddy’s long striding big boot prints as he left one after another in the soft soil before me. The blue sky sang bright with birds tweet tweeting their greetings and the shade of the treed canopies cooled my hot summer cheeks…..Head to our profile to click through and read my most recent Happy Birthday Dad blog! Happy 72nd Birthday Dad we sure think of you often and miss that smile ❤️❤️❤️

It’s been a minute since I have shown my face on Instagram and I felt it was time to reintroduce myself and our family. Hi, my name is Amy Christianson and together with my mother Elizabeth and my siblings, Dan, Audrey (Roger), Andrew (Karmen), and Grace we run the Historic Lady Florence.

35 years ago my parents bought the Lady from the original owners, the Anderson’s and with a whole lot of love restored her to her present glory. This year will be our 9th year opening her doors to the public for guests from around the country to gather within her walls and amongst her gardens to make life’s most precious memories the ones only found when you gather for those milestone moments, the ones you look lovingly back on years down the road.

Today, we are starting a new journey of documenting our month to month/week to week happenings at the venue! There will be memories, seasonal thoughts, a few funday posts, and a lot more moments celebrating all the wonderful celebrations that have graced the lady’s doors past, present and into the future.
We welcome you to follow along and if you’re looking for the perfect place to hold your next wedding, shower, reunion or celebration of life we are actively booking for our 2024/2025 seasons.

Cheers,
The Christianson’s

Winter coziness has descended on the Lady filled with snowfall, icy expression, calls of the snow goose, contented white doggies, wood fires and the remnants of Christmas 🎄 joy and cookies🤩 and we could not be more thrilled for our quiet season on the farm. Loving the brief contemplative peace that snowy days in the pnw bring to our door. There is nothing quiet like it in our endlessly busy world. Wishing all of our followers near and far a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a blessed New Year!

Our hearts and prayers this past week have been with all those affected by the major flooding in the Skagit Valley, Whatcom county and B.C. Mother Nature is surely showing her muscles in ways we haven’t seen in close to 30+ years. Although it flooded down in the Stillaguamish valley, it was not as bad as previous years and certainly not as bad as our throw back pic this week of the Lady and the original Anderson farm set up. The date is unknown. Fighting the flow of the waterways is a history all unto its own in this area. We surely can thank all those Scandinavians and Dutch settlers for their knowledge of drainage and diking to make farming possible in all of these areas. Farmers have to be experts in many things and when you farm in the valleys of the Pacific Northwest and diking and drainage of fields is close to number one While the fields around our house have not been flooded to this extent in a long long time it gives pause to a time before big powered equipment when all farms and homes in the valleys were at the mercy of the rising waters.

We are coming off an amazing Halloween 🎃 weekend at the Lady Florence only 3 days late 😉We had the the privilege of hosting an annual Halloween party this past Saturday for 20 close friends. After a few months of planning with it was so fun to see the decor, roaring fires, appetizers, themed drinks and elegantly plated meal all come together on a chilly October 🌟 night! In Natalie’s words, “The Lady Florence hosted our annual Halloween dinner party and hit it out of the park! From someone who is obsessed with the minute details: Amy and her team did not disappoint.” If your looking for a one of a kind special event this holiday season look no further than the Lady Florence! Hi my name is Amy Christianson and I with my mom Betsy run the historic Lady Florence wedding venue ❤️

Inspired by Mary & here are 10 things about us

1. We might be a mother/daughter team, but truly it takes our whole family/village pulling together at different moments throughout the year to pull off our many events at the Lady Florence - huge thank you to my siblings Audrey and her husband Roger with, grace and Andrew and his wife Karmen and Dan
2. The only house I have only known is the Lady Florence. Before I could walk I sat in a crib on her porch, when I could run I hauled a paint smeared beloved blankie with me everywhere through her rooms and by the time I had really gained my balance I was out on the roof with my Uncle Dan watching him fix the siding.
3. My mom Betsy got her degrees in K-12 education, German and physical education, but ended up homeschooling all 4.
4. We have 3 dogs all white, all little, all hyper allergenic, but 3 different breeds. Pearl- havenese/Maltese, Luke- Maltese/Poodle and our new girl Jem-Westie 💕
5. Prior to starting the Lady, our family and families family on both sides have always been a mixture of farmers, seed growers, dairymen, nurseryman, and part-time ranchers. Pioneering, working with the land, running the soil between our thumbs runs deep, just as about as deep as our strong scandahovian roots. I was always proud of being a farmers daughter, it’s a special thing to grow up surrounded by the process of watching a seed be planted, see it spring forth out of the ground, pray for rain, scratch the weeds and pray for sun and partake of its full and plentiful harvest.
6. We are a family of artists- My mom is an oil painter, I am the Poet/writer/historian, Audrey is the architect/finish carpenter/potter/printmaker, Andrew is an opera singer/plays guitar, Viola and piano, and Grace is a opera singer/quilter/bread maker. However, there is no limit to learning and experimenting with new art forms in our world!
7. You can tell that we are of Swedish lineage from the spelling of our last name Christianson versus the danish Christensen.

When I was a little girl my Grandma Lucille taught my sister Audrey and I the art of wreath making. She spent the summers in her large English garden on the hill looking out over Port Susan Bay tending to her plants and flowers. She would carefully pick and dry all of her many varieties throughout the spring, summer and fall in preparation for wreath making in the winter months. This fall after a long hot summer our hydrangea blooms have never been more prolific or full of all the beautiful colors. So, I pulled out the clippers and floral wire, mom went picking and these are the first two wreaths now available for pre-order. As I bunched flowers together and wired them into the wreaths, I thought about my grandma Lucille, her green thumb and burning my fingers in her glue pot while making my first wreaths with her sometime in the 90s. If anyone is looking for a autumn wreath the Lady Florence is doing pre-orders on our Hydrangia wreaths 🍂🍁 multiple colors available, each wreath is one of a kind and around 36” wide. If your interested DM us!
