It was just a matter of time…COVID finally caught up with me. My symptoms are VERY mild but I’m isolating regardless. Mr. Tom is off on an adventure in Mexico, so I’ve had ample time to play in the kitchen. Just a few things I’ve been cooking up…

Last catering gig of the season! This one was near and dear to my heart. I had the honor of feeding the American Legion Middleton Post 39. They dined on mushroom ragout, roasted pork loin, cheesy potatoes, Caesar salad and cheesecake. Thanksgiving was just last week right? I’m so behind on posting! After catering a German themed party for our Star Police Department and their families, it was time to feed my own family. This year I deconstructed the turkey, stuffed and trussed the breast and cooked it on the smoker. Delish!

It’s been a busy week! Starting with a “Fiesta de Fifty” birthday party for the Mayor of Star.
I made a burrito, tacos, and nachos table with beef or chicken options and lots of toppings.
Day 2 was a lunch & learn in the Wolf kitchen at MLD in Boise.
Day 3 back at MLD for a crawfish boil for 60.
Today I cooked for a bridal shower for a dear friend’s niece and her fiancé. A large grazing table with bites, charcuterie and assorted cool salads on a very hot day. The bride‘s father said my presentation was over the top.
Just the compliment I needed at the end of a long week.

Back from our beach vacation on the island of Vieques, PR and have a crazy week ahead! 5 events to cook for in the next 7 days, starting with this one…

Pure Barre of Meridian did a class at our beautiful Star winery, Sol Invictus Vineyard.

After a tough workout in extreme heat, the guests enjoyed wine and some adult “lunchables”.

There were a lot of goodies packed into every box…Brie, Gouda, two kinds of goat cheese, a salami river, crackers, chocolate, candied orange, date, fresh fruit, olives and nuts. The perfect little snack to go with some beautiful Star wines!

Catering is fun, but cooking for family is the best. We hosted our daughter’s baby shower (first grand baby *squee*).
All things blue, “diaper” napkins, wooden blocks that we decorated with markers, lego containers filled with jellybeans and Hot Wheels cars on the table. Our son-in-law created a cocktail for the event, blue Paloma’s, that we served in juice pouches...virgin for Mom, of course!
We can’t wait for “Walter” to arrive!

What a great time! Traveled to a beautiful private home on Jug Mountain Golf Course to cater an event for the Idaho BCA’s Gold Key Members.

The menu and tablescape were inspired by lemons and the famous blue tiles of the Amalfi Coast.

*Charcuterie board with cold gazpacho shots
*Smoked Tuscan chicken with lemon, thyme & garlic
*Penne Rossa
*Vegetable Lasagna
*Caprese salad

Finished the evening with lemon hazelnut tiramisu and bête noir.

On my own this weekend...Mr. Tom is off on an adventure.
Hosting my dear friend Carrie for a casual Sunday brunch. This yummy casserole has sourdough bread, sausage, asparagus, spinach, scallions, cheese and eggs. Hearty and delish! Served with fresh fruit, warm pastries and Mimosas, and you have the perfect girlfriends brunch. 👯‍♀️ 🥂 🍊 🍳

After the BCA’s Parade of Homes Tour, the buses came back with guests hungry for dinner! Day 1, Les and Adam provided the BBQ and I gave them sides of coleslaw with cranberries, pecans and Gorgonzola, baked beans with lots of bacon, Mac & cheese, and cornbread muffins.

Day 2 was tacos! 🌮 😋
Les and Adam worked their magic and I made Spanish rice, refined beans and elote “salad”, my spin on Mexican street corn.

What a crazy week! My fitness tracker said I was on my feet for 13 hours, 3 days straight! The BCA hosted their annual SAM Tram bus, and gave members a sneak peak at this year’s Parade of Homes. My job was to get them loaded on the bus with a warm breakfast to go! Day 1 was breakfast burritos, fruit, and cran-orange scones. Day 2 was breakfast sammies with fruit and morning glory muffins.

An easy weeknight, one sheet pan dinner of pork loin with veg, and an apple strudel with rum soaked raisins. I love a meal that doesn’t dirty every dish in the house!

I’m so full! What a fun day and yummy food. Feeding my family makes me so happy. 😊
Blanched asparagus with hazelnut dust, lemon zest and butter;
Rack of Lamb with Dijon, panko, hazelnut, pecorino Romano, and rosemary crust;
Peas with fried shallots, minced mint and bacon olive oil from The Milled Olive;
Mashed potatoes, ham and a beautiful strawberry and spinach salad made by my daughter.
The lemon and hazelnut tiramisu disappeared before I could get a photo. 😂

What a perfect day to have our family Easter meal outside.  Even the garden is showing off in the sunshine.  ☀️ 🌷 🐇

Another beautiful event at Sol Invictus Vineyard. This time I had the pleasure of catering a friend’s intimate wedding reception. Loving my new wine barrel charcuterie board. It’s even on a lazy Susan. Snacks that spin, for the win!

A lunch and learn at the MLD showroom...saffron rice with mint, almonds, and golden raisins, sautéed asparagus, red peppers, castelvetrano olives, spice rubbed rack of lamb, and romesco sauce.

First time trying the lamb in the Wolf steam oven. Amazing! Juicy, tender, and no smoke from the rendered fat. I’m sold! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Star’s Mayor popped in to thank MLD for helping get the city’s new Riverhouse equipped with ADA compliant appliances. Or maybe it was for the free lunch? 🤷‍♀️ 😂
