Took advantage of the warmer weather this pay weekend to try something new! Planting in crates is a first for us though many of our flower friends have had success with it. We will see!

Our trial with chrysanthemum went so well, ya’ll! We have such beautiful prolific mums that we will be sharing next year. Cream, whites, burgundy, pink. We’ll see how the bronze beauties come out and the purple spiders… those will be fun and we’re late additions to the trial. I’ll call next year a trial for them.

More beautiful plants from Costa Rica! Thankfully my friend and I were able to go on a perfect personalized tour of the area. We told our guide what we wanted and he built the best experience full of foliage, coffee, and relaxation. I can’t recommend enough!

It’s here! The 2nd Iowa Farmers of Color conference. I am so proud of this work to bring this event together in strong collaboration with and the core group of us over the past year.
Also, really are gracious hosts - they even provided some entertainment for my little kids who quickly became unenthusiastic about the funding panels lol

This might not look like much but this is one inspiration for our prairie. The Marshall County Timmons Grove Park has this very small segment of prairie with a walking path threaded through it. It reminds me it doesn’t take much to make a difference and make an impact to visitors.

Today is Día de los Mu***os - a celebration I miss from growing up in Texas. Celebrated from November 1-2, it’s a time to remember and connect with the departed. While I looove dressing up for Halloween, this celebration hits differently.

We talked about having a space like this and my dreamer-mom and bringer-of-reality-dad put their heads together and made it come true! It’s now one of our favorite places on the farm. It takes in ol’Sally’s good side and takes advantage of the wind-break she creates to grow the many culinary and medicinal herbs. Many of which we also use in our bouquets 💐

Jazz hands for 2024! Welcome and hello - I’m Hannah, owner of our little flower farm in central Iowa that we’ve called Minerva’s Meadow! I’ve been farming since March 2020, right when the world began to change. Flowers were grounding for my family during that time and proved to be just what our neighbors and flower-friends needed. Since gardening is a family passion, we took our love and began sharing it with you all. And since we continue to dream, we have so many ideas cooking for this next year to bring more of the farm to you all in 2024! Want to follow the development?
