Shirley Poppy is variety the best known for the World War I memorial poem “In Flanders Field”. This year is the first for this amazing gray poppy variety. I decided to add them to the spring harvest based on reviews from a few other farms, but mostly the photos of this particular color. Just stunning!

Meaning*: Memory, continuance, sacrifice, revelations. You are always in my memory.

These are a perfect flower to let someone know you have found memories of them.

Poppies begin to show their colors in April and can last through June depending on heat and humidity. We are growing two eye catching varieties on the farm; Icelandic (Papaver nudicaule) and Shirley (Papaver rhoeas). These are a “cut and come again” flower. There are features I love about growing and harvesting poppies and elements that need more love.

Will they remain on our Petals Listing?

Beautiful pastel mix stems are still going strong.

I just love making wearables creating unique combinations of petite blooms and greenery with unexpected elements. This one started with narcissus and these tiny black berry branches I found on the farm. Then I added dried celosia and a dried magnolia leaf for that unexpected touch. How cool does this look!?

This jumbo red amaryllis is named Ferrari. Just stunning!!! They are massive measuring over two feet tall with blooms over six inches in diameter!!!

We are finalizing the mechanics this weekend but these beauties will definitely need some extra support.

I will be adding lots to my stories as this installation comes to life (see what I did there? “Living” installation… 😊).
