The past few weeks have been overwhelming for the Penna family as we’ve grieved the loss of George Penna. During this time, we’ve cried together, prayed, laughed, and shared countless memories. It’s been an arduous journey saying goodbye to George, but we know in our hearts that we couldn’t have navigated it without the incredible love and support of our friends, family, work family and community. So many of you have touched our hearts with your presence, gifts, talents, and
kindness.

We want to express our deepest gratitude in particular to the
following people and groups for their guidance and support during this difficult time.

Care
* Thank you to the compassionate and caring staff of nurses and
doctors at Troy Beaumont, including Dr. John Calado. Several of the nurses who got to know George during his treatments even attended his funeral.
* Joanna Ackerman for the many nights you spent by George’s side.

Spiritual Guidance
* Rev. John Jaddou, Parochial Vicar at St. George Chaldean Church ܥܕܬܐ ܕܡܪܝ ܓܝܘܪܓܝܣ ܕܟܠܕܝܐ ܩܬܘܠܝܩܝܐ in Shelby Township for your divine encounter with George in his final hours.
* Pastor Tony Rea from Community Christian Church for your spiritual guidance.
* St. Thecla Catholic Church and Father Kevin for the
beautiful funeral mass and Shannon Caramagno Rupkus for all your help.
* Everyone who sent prayers, Mass cards, gifts, flowers, and donations to The Capuchin Soup Kitchen and Friends of Foster Kids—your generosity has been humbling.
* S.Oliva Patrona di Castro dei Volsci for honoring George with a Mass in his hometown in Italy.

*Singers Aaron Caruso, Theresa Randazzo and Lance Pittman Sr. with The First Praise Choir, featuring his daughter, (music featured in this post), for your talents and contributions that lifted our spirits during the mass.

* The Clinton Township Police Department, Sterling Heights Police Department, and Detroit Police Department for watching over our homes and guiding us as we brought George to his final resting place.

Funeral Services:
* Frank Oldani, Director of Family Service with Resurrection Cemetery
* Paul Calcaterra, Matt Manzella, and Bill Cucinello from Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home for helping us lay George to rest with dignity.
* VVA Chapter 154 and Mike Bradley for coordinating an honorable military burial and The Three Volley Salute
and fellow veterans and friends such as Tony D'Agostini.
* Dream Limousines, Inc. and the Guerrieri family for your
generous assistance.
* Top That Table for the magnificent flower arrangements.

Other acts of Generosity:
* The Randazzo and Proia family, for keeping us nourished with your thoughtful meals.
* Friends and family who traveled from as far as New York and Texas to be with us. A special mention to the couple from Grand Rapids whom George introduced to each other during their Sophomore year of high school and have been together ever since - your presence is so greatly appreciated.
* Cousin Sandy, Mike, and Nick for your steadfast support and keeping us grounded.
* To the incredible staff at Penna’s who kept things running smoothly while we were away, we couldn’t have done this without you.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to each and every one of you. We apologize if your name wasn't mentioned. Just know that your love and kindness have carried us through this heartbreaking loss.

As we move forward, we hold George’s memory close and look ahead to doing what we do best: celebrating life and creating lasting memories with all of you.

From our family to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this holiday season bring peace, joy, and love to you and your loved ones.
