Welcome back to our "Meet the Owner" series, where we spotlight the owners of our Downtown Businesses!

Today we're introducing Kiba with Freeman Taekwondo & Fitness. They are a Taekwondo school located at 929 Main Street in Downtown Stevens Point. They opened their doors in December 2024.

Kiba said one rewarding thing about this business is “When the younger kids break their boards for the first time. One of the things I do for anyone who’s a new student to earn your white belt is you have to break your board. It’s one of the first obstacles you overcome. You learn a couple of kicks and how your body moves to make this technique work. Seeing younger kids go from ‘This is fun’ to “I BROKE A BOARD!’ is priceless and rewarding. It’s an ongoing, beautiful occurrence from various age groups”.

We love a good historical building! Luckily, we have more than 60 buildings of different architectural styles within walking distance. Our district is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. What's your favorite historical building Downtown?

Welcome back to our "Meet the Owner" series, where we spotlight the owners of our Downtown Businesses!

Today, we're introducing Connie, the owner of Turquoise on Main, located at 1201 Main Street in Downtown Stevens Point. Connie opened her charming store in July 2020, right in the midst of the pandemic, when the space became available. She’s created a beautiful, curated trove of home accessories, decor, and gifts with something for everyone!

Connie shared a fun story about the store’s past: “One thing I love when people come in and they say ‘This used to be a record shop! I used to buy my 45s here. We used to take music lessons in the basement.’ I love the history I hear about this building”.

“I love to being on Main Street because of the charm and quaintness of being Downtown. It’s something special. The people are wonderful, and I love all the other businesses around here. We’ve got such a great variety of gift shops, restaurants, bookstores—everything you could want. It’s great.”

Welcome to our new series, Meet the Downtown Business Owner!

Meet Suzanne, owner of Lily & Vine Floral. She purchased Bev's Floral in May 2024 and decided to rename it Lily & Vine then moved the business to Downtown Stevens Point

A fun story that Suzanne shared was that "Bev's started as Linda's Floral. Before Linda's, it was named something else; at that time, it was located in the Sentry building. To be a part of that history is so important and key to me because it was huge for me to change the name. I realized it wasn't initially Bev's, Bev changed the name too. I just thought it was so cool that it had multiple owners and she knew about them. Then to realize moving into this historical building and it also having it's history of owners, makes me so excited to be a part of it. I haven't changed the past, I'm part of the evolution of the story. It was hard decision to change a name that means so much to this community".

A few upcoming things for Lily & Vine:
- Bridal season is coming; they have a new bridal area that showcases their items and helps envision the wedding florals.
