Sorry we will have to be closed on Wednesday the 7th. We will open if we get back early. We have had to make a screaming trip up to Chicago, to hopefully pick up the rest of the playground equipment tomorrow morning, for the town. We have been up here once, a month ago and came home empty handed……I cried….. Please say a small prayer we are able to get our little animals out of customs this time.

Happy 14th birthday to Ooo La La last week! We just didn’t feel like celebrating much due to the tragedy in our community. Our hearts still hurt for everyone.
But we want to thank all our customers over the last 14 years. And let you know that, NEW homecoming is here!! Along with a just a few pants suits! Here is one of my favorites…… oh and if you’re on a budget there is a $25 sale rack, too. Have a blessed weekend everyone

Incase you missed it in the Effingham news paper. Some interesting facts about the oldest building in town and my family. Thank you all for you continued support for them and myself, over the last century and half.

I guess being an entrepreneur is in my blood. Starting with the furniture and casket business starting in Shumway in the 1870s with Diedrich Beummerstedt. His son George Adam bought and moving his funeral home business from Shumway to Stewardson in 1918. Later he passed the torch to son Gilbert (Geraldine) and then their daughter Shary (Leon) Vonderheide who took over the business until Shary fell ill and sold it in 2004. Shary and Leon’s son Tracy Vonderheide did not follow in the undertaking footsteps, but the entrepreneur bug was present in him. He opened his business, in Shumway, auto glass unlimited in 1988 and has been in business ever since. His warehouse is currently housed in Stewardson. The granddaughter of Leon and Shary chose to go in a slightly more happy of businesses. Shauna Kessler-Curry currently owns and operates Ooo La La Brides and Prom Queens in the oldest building in Stewardson on Main Street. She has been in business since 2010.

This building yet has more history with another branch of the same family. It use to house Falk dry goods and grocery, which was ran by Shauna’s two times great grandparents, Elmer and Grace Falk. Their daughter Geraldine and Gilbert Brummerstedt later maintained the business in a different location, selling more feed and seed items. 

Shauna the owner of Ooo La La is proud to carry on her family’s legacy. The reminiscence of where the check out counter, where her ancestors stood, are still on her almost 150 year old original floor in her shop. And yes her check out area is in the same spot. To say this family’s heart is in Stewardson is an understatement. Businesses the Brummerstedt/Falk family and descendants have owned in and around Stewardson.

I always love it when the girls that I’ve know all their life, come in to find their wedding dress! I’ve know this girl since she was little, had her in dance class, and helped with all her high school dance dresses. And now she is going to be such a beautiful bride next year! Thank you Theresa!

I will be going with Jagger in his field trip on Wednesday the 1st so we will be open 4-6. This will also be the last Wednesday we are open late for walk ins, until the homecoming season starts in August. If you need later we are more than happy to schedule an appointment.

Then……vs…… how it’s going!!
Has anyone seen addies picture in our shop from when she was 4? Now she’s 18, how hard is that to believe. She holds a special place in our heart as I’ve known her since before she was born, and spent countless hours at the dance studio with her that her mother owned.

The ever adorable Addie Rose. We shot a series of ads for our buddy Shauna at Ooo La La Brides and Prom Queens in Stewardson and while setting up Addies shots she gave us the bored pose and I knew it was a killer. A shot that launched a thousands ships.......Addie went on to do a ton of professional modeling for various outlets like Kmart, LLBean etc...... We got together today, some 14 years later and just had to take a quick trip back in time and go back to those steps and do that shot one more time. It's been an absolute honor to play a small part in the beginning of this young lady's photographic career and I'm so proud of the awesome person she's become. All the best in the future, Perfection..... ; )
