I want to address something, and it's not the election (different post). I'd like to talk about Steel Bridge related events that happen in and around the Tambourine Lounge. Lots of people reminisce about the pre-pandemic days when we had the big events, wishing they would happen again. And i'm also nostalgic, but i also remember how much work it was - and the tsunami of stress that happened three times a year. And it continued all through my two years of cancer treatments, and i'm sure the stress didn't help the cure. But the cure happened anyway. And then covid demanded we do somethinng different. We could have legitimately ended it there, but instead we tried something even more ambitious, collaborating remotely, making videos for every new song, and two hour live online streaming events three times a year. We'd also lost our main live venue when Third Avenue Playhouse did their redesign and cut the seating by half. So changes were necessary, but the streaming events didn't generate the same enthusiasm or loyalty as the live shows, so they fell away. I used ithe break to work on my own music and also to develop the Tambourine Lounge as a live recording "listening room." I put energy into WRiTERS' NiGHT, and hosted lots of little concerts and mini-versions of Steel Bridge Songfest and Dark Songs, now called "TAMBOWEEN!" broadcast on Steel Bridge Radio. This is what i can do with the energy i have and the relationships i've managed to maintain. I feel these things are important to the community, and many in community seem to feel the same. BUT i WISH that more people would support these events, if only by attending them! Though the events are smaller than the ones we did before, the stresses and worries can be just as big, wondering if we'll fill that little room. And then, almost miraculously, we have a great show, thanks to the interest and loyalty of a small hardcore group of friends and supporters. The point of everything i'm saying here is that we need more support for what we're currently able to do, so that maybe we'll be able to do a lot more in the future.
