Several years ago I tried my hand at making my own extracts combining things like vanilla/lavender, vanilla/rose and using alcohols like rum and vodka. But the best extract I made came from using Kentucky Bourbon. It adds a level of flavor and depth so you only need half as much. As much baking as I do this should last me for months.

This is a two tiered red velvet cake I recently made for a bridal shower. I’m not the best at decorating so the grooms family addded the fresh strawberries and made it look beautiful.
