This is for all brides or people throwing parties ive seen posts about not hiring a professional DJ for your wedding or event. But instead renting gear and getting a friend to

I thought I would share my thoughts here hoping to help future brides and other events you may have.
I can totally understand budgets and having a limit to what you spend on certain things.

Or maybe it’s not a budget issue, maybe entertaining your guests properly is not a priority.

But with that being said, of all the services you are hiring for your wedding, the biggest day of your life, which of them will be the most visible to your guests?

It’s the DJ or entertainment correct?

With regards to renting gear and having friend MC…

Just speakers and a mixer? What about all of the other things needed like a DJ controller, cables, extension cords, stands, microphone? Who will have all the music? What will happen when something isn’t working properly, or there is feedback from the mic, will the friend know how to fix it?

$650 for the gear sounds pretty light to me, are you sure you will have everything you need?

Typically delivery fees alone are $300-$500 for something like this? Who will set it up? Who will tear it down?

Who will interact with the maitre’d and make sure your timing and music go smoothly?

I can go on and on about the above. But I’d rather transition to the value you’ve placed on the DJ.

So basically you feel that a DJ, professional or not, their value should be the same as a drop off gear rental?

Why would you want to skimp on this part of your wedding? The most visible part of your day.

Why not find a professional to make sure everything runs smoothly, and every guest has fun, and most importantly, someone who can make your day special.

This is equivalent to needing heart surgery, but hiring some random dude with a knife to do it.

I can keep going but I wont. Let me end this by saying that the sad part here is that you will receive 192 messages from DJ’s who will take the gig for $650, and possibly even throw in a free service as well.

Sad that some people in my industry don’t value their work, time, music, art, and as a whole, the industry itself.

I wish you the best and hope you find the right person at a good rate for you and the provider to help with your day.
