Remember WSDOT is hard at work this weekend.
Overnight closures & route modifications.
Plan to give yourself plenty of travel time!

You’ve asked, and you shall receive. The Paint Maps were good. The poorly-drawn digital Seahawk was great. But there’s something about a hand-drawn map on paper that really gets the people going.

But that going might be slow a bit this weekend as we’re now in crunch time to finish our major paving projects before the The Big Dark (or The Big Wet) arrives. So, we’ve got another busy weekend of road work for the Puget Sound metro area. The good news is most of these closures are overnights only. Here’s what you need to know:

*Both directions I-5 CLOSED - overnights only!*
-Where: Between SR 18 in Federal Way & 54th Ave E in Fife
-When: Overnight Friday & Saturday. NB lanes will close by 10:30 p.m. & SB lanes by 11 p.m. On Saturday, lanes begin opening at 7 a.m. (fully open by 11 a.m.). On Sunday, lanes begin reopening at 8 a.m. (fully open by noon).
-What: Setting girders for a new overpass crossing I-5.

*Lane closures on both directions of I-5 – overnights only!*
-Where: SB & NB I-5 between mid-Boeing Field (Seattle) & Interurban Ave S (Tukwila)
-When: Overnight 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday; 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday
-What: Up to three lanes plus multiple ramps closed for restriping

*SR 520 CLOSED - highway & trail*
-Where: Between I-5 in Seattle & 92nd Ave NE in Clyde Hill
-When: 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday
-What: Working on lighting & the fire suppression system under the new Montlake lid over SR 520.

*SR 99 Tunnel in Seattle CLOSED*
-Where: Both directions of SR 99 between Alaskan Way & Harrison St (tunnel)
-When: 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Sunday
-What: Six year, federally mandated inspection

*Both directions US 2 CLOSED in Snohomish – overnight only!*
-Where: Between SR 9 & 88th St SE
-When: 10:30 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday
-What: Survey work, highway cleaning & sweeping, & bridge drain clearing

*Southbound I-405 lane reduction in Bothell – overnight only!*
-Where: Between SR 522 & NE 160th St
-When: Overnight 8 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday
-What: Up to three lanes plus multiple ramps closing for a traffic shift.

Also want to give you a heads up about Seattle Department of Transportation's planned closure of the Ballard Bridge from Friday night to Monday morning.

As usual, most of these closures have detours, but: Detour routes cannot accommodate normal traffic volumes, so consider travelling during off-peak hours or, if possible, delay your trip to help minimize backups.

Coaches.. you have until noon tomorrow (Thursday) to get credentials for you and your coaching team. It makes the line go sooooo much faster if you're already on the list! Remember, if you are coaching both days, get the 2 day band and skip the line all together on Sunday (as long as you are still wearing the band.
