MAY DAY IS LEI DAY IN HAWAI'I 🌺 Spent the day dancing hula, learning about the Hawaiian Islands and making leis with our hula ohana. Some BTS Brought to you, Wes Anderson style 😂

A little background…The first Lei Day was celebrated on May 1, 1927 with a few people wearing lei in downtown Honolulu. Over time, more and more people began to wear lei on May 1, and thus began the tradition of “May Day is Lei Day in Hawai'i.”In 1929, May 1 of each year was proclaimed as "May Day is Lei Day in Hawai‘i,” by Governor Wallace R. Farrington – to be observed “by all true friends of Hawai‘i.” It is a day of celebration – not a State holiday.
