We’re back!

Thank you for hangin tight while we took a little summertime breather 🎆🌞

Our voicemail and email are both full of “thank you” orders heading out this week. It’s fun getting to read the little messages about everyone’s adventures and good times. It feels extra special to send arrangements out knowing they’ll be stuffed with local blooms to compliment the fun they got to enjoy in our little Land of Delight.

We’re back to regular scheduled programming: flowering for the masses Tuesday-Friday, 11-2.

If you find yourself at you’ll see this beauty in the corner as soon as you enter the store.

We’ve had the pleasure of bringing a big beautiful arrangement to the store every week! It’s been fun trying to do something different every time and mix up the design based on which ever flowers are prettiest that week (spoiler alert: all of them)

We’ve also started the same sort of exchange with our friends at in Lake Leelanau! Every two weeks, you’ll see a vase of fresh cut blooms as you sip your morning (or afternoon) coffee.

Let’s not forget our beachy pink and peach flower cloud hanging in in Leland!

We are so grateful to serve our community and spread the love with flowers!

As of today we’re hunkering down and getting into building three weddings. Rest assured - Angel made some beautiful pieces that are all available for pick up or delivery, so we’ve got you covered!

The studio is currently filled with beautiful garden roses, ranunculus, hydrangea, and all kinds of lush greenery. Local peonies are starting to trickle in and dip their stems into water waking them up from their preserved slumber.

We’ve got ourselves a wedding weekend!

Angel put together all kinds of premade arrangements available for pick up or delivery, so if you’re in need of weekend flowers, or it just occurred to you that it’s your anniversary (so many this week) we’ve got you covered.

Really wishing we could participate in Suttons Bays Art&Wine Walk Friday, but this is one of our biggest weddings of the season as it edges on a 400 person head count. Gotta stay focused!

HEADS UP! 📣

Next week is one of our biggest (and best) weddings of the season so our availability may be limited after Wednesday.

The following week, we have a triple wedding weekend so again, after Wednesday we’ll be in wedding mode.

After that is the first week of July aka our *summer sabbatical* where we close for the week to treat ourselves to a little Leelanau County staycation. We’re historically slow that week, so after years of sitting on all sorts of red, white, and blue flowers - we decided to accept it as a chance to breathe.

🎆We will reopen Tuesday 7/9🎆

If you anticipate needing anything within these next few weeks please please please reach out! We’re always happy to make magic happen, we just need to know when you need it!

Yesterday caught us by surprise because it marked our SIXTH YEAR in business so I thought I’d introduce this years team!

First up in the floral corset is me (Carly). I’m the owner, leader, snack provider, steerer of the ship, and voice of this account.

Next, we have Angel. Creator of all creations, design extraordinaire, wizard behind the curtain, floral designer that makes FMN what it is. Her attention to detail and willingness to spill her heart into her work shows with every stick and branch and curtsy pose that you see so often. I have thousands of flower pictures on my phone and I can confidently guarantee none of them are the same.

Next and new on board: Saddy + Kaitlyn. The best support staff we could ask for! Both so very kind and helpful with clients. Both sweet and funny. Both amazing to work with! Time and time again, we realize just how important they are to keeping this team together and there’s no doubt this year will be a success because they are on board.

I had several people ask if we had weddings this weekend and I said no because we didn’t.

Why did part of me want to say we had more important things to do…?

Maybe because we had the honor of creating this beautiful wreath for the Memorial Day ceremony where the sweet gentleman who always picks up gave me a gentle lecture on how we don’t charge enough…?

Maybe because we had to put together funeral flowers for a high school friends dad…?

Graduation party pieces for my stepdaughters party?

I don’t know, but we poured our hearts into everything we did this weekend and it feels good!

Wedding season doesn’t get wild for us until mid-June, but in the meantime we’re keeping busy with other events, happy and sad.

It’s the beauty of being a full service florist; this shop always has something for us - and don’t get me wrong, this years wedding season is *chefs kiss*

We’ve been busy preparing to be busy 🤪

I think that statement resonates with most small business owners in this lovely land of seasonal business. How many times have we mentioned “the calm before the storm” (probs daily).

It’s true though: graduation flowers for all the schools in the county, graduation party centerpieces, celebrations of life, and of course June weddings are upon us. Are we ready? I think so!

Times like these, we stop and wonder what happened to January and if we truly savored our “off season” (is there such a thing?)

With changing of the life seasons also comes flower seasons. Tulips are about to exit stage and make way for the next performers: PEONIES!

It’s all going to zip by faster than you know - make sure to stop and smell the Lily of the Alley. They too will be gone before you know it.

Surprise, surprise! SPOILER ALERT: we’re really only taking our Saturdays back-ish.

We’ll be rockin Tuesday-Friday 11-2 thru November, but will still accommodate Saturday morning pick ups and pop ins with open arms.

As wedding season ramps up, our Saturdays are typically spoken for, requiring all hands on deck for staff. It’s annoying for the customer if we’re open sometimes and sometimes not, so for now, Saturdays are reserved for preorder pick ups (usually between 10-11) and events.

Fear not: there are so many flowers available around the county, we promise you won’t really miss us. If you truly need us, give us a heads up and we’ll have something ready. No time for a heads up? We’re usually loading up wedding flowers in the morning… stop in to see what’s ready in the cooler!

Happy to accommodate the masses but also have to be fully available for our wedding clients 🤍

Sometimes during the processing phase we lose our heads, as do the flowers. Kidding. But really, when necks snap or knuckles bust, out comes: bud vases!

Last week was a super busy and interesting ‘warm up’ to what will be our ‘Super Bowl’ this week as it is the week of Mothers Day.

It was also a subtle reminder that this holiday is very painful for some that have lost their moms, never had a mom, wanted to be moms who never could, or are still struggling to become moms.

While we love to talk about the best parts of Mother’s Day, we know that some of these orders are about the broken hearts.

I’ll always say it’s never really about the flowers as much as the gesture behind it. The flowers will last +\- than 10 days, but the feeling of being thought of and seen will live in their hearts for a long time.

It’s going to be busy, but we’ll make sure the cooler is stocked with quick, easy, and affordable options for these kind gestures. A little wrap of flowers left on her doorstep while she’s out or not answering the door is sure to be the warmth and kindness she might need.

Can you imagine missing out on this piece because you were out of town when we tried to deliver her?

Can you imagine this piece being left on the porch to perform alone and slowly lose life before you got to admire her?

Maybe that happens to other people.

We strive to not only provide the healthiest, most beautiful, fresh flowers we can source, but we also strive to provide the best service to back these blooms.

The recipient of this lovely gal was out of town until Monday when the delivery was scheduled for Wednesday prior. She said I could put them on the porch for her neighbor to put inside…….. I suggested we bring her something fresh when she gets home instead, no problem, she couldn’t believe my kindness. (It’s not like we won’t sell this piece anyway, look at her 💁🏻‍♀️😍)

We always go above and beyond for our customers but at the same time, we’re just out here trying to be good and fair humans. We’ve seen the importance of these exchanges of love and kind gestures and if we can make it easy for you to facilitate this act, we’re all over it! The world needs more love anyway…..

Mother’s Day kicks off next week and we’re thrilled to be in the mix of it all! We know so many of these mamas, where they live, what they like, their favorite colors, etc. I have to believe there’s a reason we have so many repeat customers.

Hanging baskets arrived yesterday for Mothers Day and we are loving the selection!

Mandevilles, Geraniums, Superbells, Petunia, etc. all so happy and healthy and ready for mom’s porch!

We always tell our wedding clients that rain on your wedding day is a good thing because the photos are better (no squinting) and it makes the day extra romantic and cozy.

We also always tell them they couldn’t be in better hands than .gatherings because Chelsea is the GOAT of planning and coordination.

In other news, we’re OPEN today on this rainy Saturday with all kinds of beautiful fresh spring flowers arranged and wrapped all kind of ways. Perfect for a little treat for yourself or a surprise for your favorite person.

I do think our Saturdays of being open are numbered as we are about to dive into wedding season. Saturdays are spoken for, mid Mayish-end of Octoberish. We will likely switch back to Tuesday-Friday after Mothers Day. Always happy to offer Saturday pick ups with a little planning and communication!

HAPPY EARTH DAY from one of our favorite flower farmers fields last fall ()

The earth is an incredible place to call home but the most beautiful creatures it has the magic to produce are (you guessed it)… F L O W E R S!

Dahlia especially have always won my heart with how perfectly geometric they are. Vibrant in color, but the petals are most intriguing to me. Throw in the fact that they grow from a weird brown potato and this girls mind is blown. Or just really impressed.

I do really wish us humans would care for Mother Earth better than we do, but hopefully someday we will.

If you’re local, I hope you take time to admire the lake today, she’s one of my besties. Spring is creeping in and I’m noticing new buds on the trees which is always a refreshing sign of what’s to come.

MOTHERS DAY is upon us!

This is our best and busiest holiday of the year!

The flowers are always so good and is usually when our local farmers make their seasonal debut creating even more fun and excitement!

The weather is always beautiful and the people are always so happy and excited to both send and receive.
My favorite is getting to catch up with customers reassuring them “we’ve got you! We know what _____ loves!”

What can you expect for options?
• Paper wrapped bouquets, loosely arranged so mom can play and piece them together however she sees fit
• Vased arrangements artfully designed to dress up any table, kitchen island, or place that mom loves to admire.

Saturday, we had the pleasure of meeting with this beauty () to discuss her upcoming wedding in June.

We’ve had the pleasure of designing all their prom flowers for them and now we get to design their wedding flowers! Talk about coming full circle!

If your kiddo is looking for something special, we’ve got all kinds of fun bouts, corsages, flower combs and crowns; you name it, we’ll build it!

Flowers come in fresh today and we’re back to our regular scheduled programming Tuesday-Saturday, 11-2!

Welp! The basement has never looked better and our wedding schedule is organized, woohoo!

Thank you for your patience last week while we were closed-ish to focus on these projects.

We’ve got back to back consultations on Saturday and then next week, we focus on and prepare for PROM!

After that we look forward to Mothers Day (florists Super Bowl) and then jump right into the busy season.

This might sound kinda funny but this week, we’re “open-ish”.

What does heck’n does that mean?

It means that we usually close for spring break to work on cleaning projects/wedding szn prep but since spring break lined up with Easter, we stayed open.

Still needing the time to get wild in the basement (iykyk, our neighbors sure do 🤪) we will be “open-ish”.

This means we’ve created several beautiful vased arrangements and wrapped bouquets all ready to go depending on what you need. We will fill as many orders as we can with what we have, but our main goal this week is the slay the basement monster, while simultaneously being there for you! (awe)

Hours and days will be weird so if you need something, call first. In the area? Pop in, but don’t be alarmed if you hear screams from the basement as we battle dust and spiders.

A little throwback to when we got to deliver this pretty gal to the last spring.

With these long, dreary, gray days my eyes are dying to see some color. Anyone else?!

We’re plugging along in the studio. Easter is upon us and we can’t wait to put together some of the freshest spring blooms for your table!

It’s still hard to really pick a season or a flower that is our favorite, but there’s definitely something about spring that does it better than the rest. So many tiny blossoms of all kinds walking up the fields and setting the bar for everyone else. I’d be lying if I said I’m not already day dreaming about late summer dahlia….

It’s always a bummer when a wedding inquiry pops up and we’re fully booked, BUT I have found a solution that feels good in my bones.

We are fortunately in the same pool as some of the most talented floral designers in the area and not only that - but they’re genuine friends of mine whom I adore with my entire being. It’s as if you took the phrase ‘community over competition’ to the next level.

Hello friends, happy Tuesday!

In case you miss it on our stories, I wanted to show you this piece from last week.

We were asked to create a “Wizard of Oz” inspired arrangement for a couple kids in a school play.

Of course we agreed - projects like these are right up our alley!

Angels design:
The yellow mums represented the yellow brick road. The tall Bells of Ireland was for Emerald City. The fluffy ranunculus and variegated aspidistra leaves were for the munchkins. The bits of blue were for Dorothy. The white mums with black centers and the flexed tulips were the poppies. Everything was built into a square red vase for the famous ruby red slippers!

Sometimes it’s just a standard “bright and cheery” arrangement. Other times, we get to make actual art!

Wishing this team of strong and talented young women the best of luck for tonight’s big district game!

(they are holding our flowers in the 2nd photo so this post isn’t completely out of left field 🤪 - also #14 is my stepdaughter so perhaps I’m a little bias)

This team has worked so hard this season and according to they are expected to make it to the final four as they are currently ranked 2nd in the state for their division - WHOA!

We’ve had the honor of providing flowers for the schools in the area but this one is near and dear to our hearts 💙🤍

In other news, we’ll be designing some pretty things for the weekend if you need some fresh blooms for the house, for yourself, or to give to someone for all the sweet reasons.

Truth be told, I am writing this post from another state.

Why? Because I had the unfortunate pleasure of flying across the country for a funeral.

My oldest uncle passed and it’s punched a big hole in the hearts of myself and my family. Our most noble patriarch is gone. I’m feeling and experiencing what I have witnessed so many go through while standing in the flower shop.

It’s kind of wild to be in these shoes.

It also solidifies the fact of the mindset that we always want to make our interactions and responsibilities as easy as possible for our customers. The planning and stress that is planning a funeral is so much! No one knows until you’re in it.

Fortunately, my team back home is carrying the weight while I’m gone. Unfortunately, readjusting the website to NOT have Valentine’s Day as our home page is something I forgot to do before I hurried myself to the airport. Sorry guys, we look like dumb dumbs.

We’re back to our regular scheduled programming and are designing flowers for you and yours Tuesday-Saturday 11-2

Some truly beautiful things went out yesterday! We’re happily waking up to a fresh blanket of snow that we so luckily missed yesterday, whew!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who ordered early and came in late. It’s always a ball getting to chat with those last minute customers that come in with fear in their eyes and leave with a sigh of relief, and a bundle of blooms.

A post for the overwhelmed, overworked, and tired locals…. ♥️ Yesterday, a woman convinced me to take not one but TWO deliveries all the way the Empire. At first I cringed thinking of the time and distance it would take, especially after an already long week of navigating our deliveries during Cherry Festival, but ended up agreeing to it. I thought perhaps I could make a mini day of it and savor the beauty of Leelanau County? Hopefully. I stopped at Leelanau Roasters for an iced coffee(my sleepy afternoon elixir) I popped into Grocers Daughter for several versions of their chocolate bark(so good!), all the while trying to take in all the views on the way. At one point I stopped in Glen Arbor to feel the sand beneath my toes and see the water. At that very moment, I felt this overwhelming sense of gratitude that literally brought tears to my eyes. We are so lucky to *live* here. This lake is never farther than 15mins from me. I grew up here. I live here. I drive M22 every single day. This is not my vacation, this is my home. It’s easy to forget with the busy traffic, the crowded stores, the inability to turn left, but when you stop for a second and remember that they have to go home and that this *is* home, is pretty damn amazing.
