Memorial Day is next weekend, we will continue the tradition of placing roses on soldiers graves on Swan's Island on Monday, May 27th at 10 AM starting in Rose Hill Cemetery this year. ๐บ๐ธ๐น๐บ๐ธ๐น
Susan Tozier Parsley will be laying the smaller Tremont Cemeteries on Friday( May 24th) the larger on Monday, May 27th; happy to work with her again, it has been a few years since we could coordinate.
We will be laying almost 500 roses between the Tremont and Swans Island cemeteries.
This effort was started by the son of a floral wholesaler whose Dad was a veteran. The program is MemorialDayFlowers.org , I began working with the program in 2013 ( as close as I can get records), although I have not worked with them the past few years.
I have been paying for the roses the past several years, sometimes with donations , sometimes not. Honoring our soldiers, now at rest, is so important. We place on all soldiers graves, not just those who died in active duty. Those deaths , during active duty, we feel most deeply and pause the longest there to thank them for their service.
If you would like to participate in laying the roses or help defray the costs of the roses, please contact me, Tammy Tripler by message or phone.
My number is 207 664-4898.
If wanting to help in Tremont, please contact Susan Tozier Parsley.
