16 years ago, on a cloudy Wednesday afternoon in Emerald Isle, Mark and I (Zena) said our “I do’s” in front of 13 of our most special family and friends. It was small, simple and perfect. Sunset on the soundside is something to rival, it was so beautiful and romantic. We had dear friends and grandparents there that are no longer with us and having those memories and photos is beyond priceless. My best friend ( ) did my makeup, helped with my hair and took all the photos. Other friends were there to help me get ready and down the aisle. We were young and in love. I wore a $99 dress and he wore a rented suit that was 3 sizes too big. We didn’t care at all and now it’s even more memories to look back on and laugh.
So much has happened in our 16 years of Marriage and I’m thankful everyday for this partner I’ve found. If it weren’t for that Summer romance 22+ years ago, (wow that is a long time!!!) I’m not sure that Knot a Second Thought would even be!
Today we celebrate our love with our two kids and a happy, healthy home and thriving business. Life, and love are really wonderful.

It’s Friday! 🥂 it’s been such a great and busy week over here! We’ve booked several new events on the calendar for 2026 and 2027, played catch up from being on vacation + down with covid when we got back (🫣), tidied up details for the upcoming Fall season- we have so much fun on the horizon! Parties, weddings, fun workshops and more. The leaves are starting to drop, the temps cooling off just a bit, our favorite season is around the corner! 🍂🍁🍃
Cheers to the weekend- we will be swooning over all the galleries we have to look through from our events so far this year- like this amazing day with Grace and Cameron in Beaufort, they’re just the sweetest!!!

Whew! We came back from vacation and didn’t know it- but brought Covid back with us. After being down for what feels like forever, I’m finally feeling back to almost normal. That was rough, it was my first time having it and hopefully never again.
Looking so forward to pretty weather and a fun wedding this week! Kids are back in school and we’re getting back to our well run routine- which will be good for all of us around here! 💕

Whew! What a week we’ve had already and we’re only halfway through! Sooo many fun details we’re working on for the rest of our events this year- it’s just going to be the best Fall Season!! We’ve sent out 5 contracts in just the last two days and talked to some of the sweetest couples about their visions and plans for their Big Day! Feeling extra thankful today that THIS is what we get to do week after week. We just love it!

*heads up that we will be out of the office starting on Friday and will be gone all next week. Time to squeeze in one last round of fun before these kids start back to school. 🎉

We know we’ve been quiet over here, so checking in quickly to say “hey”! We’re still working hard, while also packing in the summer fun with our kids! They’re growing up fast and the whole reason we started this business 12+ years ago, was to be allow us to bust our butts to give our clients the very best events + spend as much time as we can with our kids! They still want to hang out with us, so we are soaking up those moments while they’re out for Summer break. We do keep office hours, they’re just more sporadic during the Summer months.

We’re back in all this week, prepping for an event this coming weekend! Can’t wait! 🥂 also wrapping up details for our early Fall events and chatting with new couples booking for next year!
All this to say- we’re here and busy working on amazing events and designs, just not as present on social media while the kids are home! 💕
