Here are a few more pictures of the . Christie’s photographer, .shoots.lv did an awesome job. There is another picture of Tricia’s amazing dessert entry and a few of my entry. We almost didn’t do the turkey entry but didn’t want to not participate after putting our name on the list. We were going to do a sandwich on King’s Hawaiian rolls but then had a slider at Steak ‘n Shake and picked up some of their rolls.

We used the turkey kit. We brined and seasoned it per instructions but didn’t use the glaze during the cook. As it was cooling we mixed up 1-2 tablespoons of the rub with some cream cheese, sliced some tomatoes, and mixed up some cranberry sauce.

We put the cream cheese mixture on the bottom bun, then came the turkey, tomato, and finely the glaze with the top bun.

I think it was amazing!!!! But be careful there may be “too many flavors “!

And just like that. The 2025 bbq season is in the bag. We finished on a strong note at the in Las Vegas, organized by Christie Vanover of . It was a phenomenal experience!!!!! We connected with some teams we haven’t seen in a while and made some new friends.

Congratulations to everyone who heard their name called and a huge congratulations to for his first GC and on RGC.

For the ancillaries we were
28 of 43 in Turkey Smoke and
3 of 36 in dessert with a Perfect-Perfect. (This was Tricia’s 1st attempt)

The 4-meat calls didn’t go as I hoped. They called top 15 in every category and I didn’t hear my name called once. I was a little disheartened to say the least because I felt that it was my best cook to date. Then they called the top 15 out of 90 and surprise, surprise, surprise, we heard our name called for 15th. We made the list without a call so I guess it was a pretty good cook after all. We can take that and use it for inspiration next year.

15th overall with a 693.6. I am going to break through the 700 club next year!

Tricia and I stayed an extra day in Branson. We experienced the Dolly Parton Stampede and lunch at . has set the bar for my bbq restaurant visits going forward. The food was amazing and staff were exceptional and personable.

I had a blast hanging out at the . I was able to say hello to some friends and make some more. It was fun to watch with non of the stress. I didn’t compete but I did find my name at the top of the banner. Congrats to those that heard their names yesterday and good luck to all today.

Dropped off Tricia and had lunch at the in Downtown Branson before heading to KC. The Chubby Sherman is possibly the best sandwich I have ever had.
