Finally settled after the fest. Thank you to and the Lions for putting on a fantastic event. And thank you to all of the bbq royalty who cooked for the VIP dinner . I would mention more but you were all the wizards behind the curtain and I am not sure who all helped. It was amazing!

I also had the opportunity to check a few more meet-and-greets off the bucket list. I was able to meet Luke Darnell of and chatted about electric motorcycles with of La Pasadita BBQ team.

Now for the results. I was a little disheartened with my cook. I felt good about it and that should have been my first sign that things would not go my way.

I haven’t done much bbq comp practice lately but my wife, grandson, and I did go camping in the Uinta Mountains. We did end up cooking a tri-tip with brisket rub. It was amazing. I wonder how long it would take to cook a comp brisket at 10,000 feet elevation.

I have received a couple of calls in 🐓 this year but nothing spectacular and not consistent so I thought I would change it up a little bit. I cooked them on a drum this time and I added some to the mix with my go to and . I also used some brine (not pictured). The flavors were awesome but I think I had the temp a little too high in the drum. We will try again as we get ready for the comp in ID,

All rested up from the in SLC. Thank you to Melissa and William for putting on a great comp.

We had a pretty good cook; 1st in ribs, and 2nd in brisket with 7th overall, and brought home some hardware but I let my go-to pork cook a little long. I am just going to have to cook better next time but I will have to put in a little more effort on my nemesis chicken. Go figure, it was my best last year.

Congrats to on GC. See you in Idaho. Congrats to on RGC and for knocking of the dust off and leading the Utah teams with a 3rd place.
