🗓️ WED AUG 28th 6:00 PM Poetic Black Fusion Writers Workshop📓: This month’s session will highlight Black August and the works of Amir Baraka, Nikki Giovanni, Haki Madhubuti, Sonia Sanchez, The Last Poets, Caroline Rogers, and Gil Scott-Heron. Black August was created to commemorate George Jackson’s fight for Black Liberation following his death. The first observance was in 1979, a month-long continuation that was focused on political education and the ultimate liberation of Black people globally.

This past Saturday Anthony Washington shared his inspirations behind our current exhibition “People, Please.” During a candid conversation, Washington shared his experiences as a Black artist and being diagnosed with ADHD. Washington also spoke of how hip-hop culture is closely intertwined with his authenticity and fusion of artistic mediums.

The exhibition will be on extended view until August 30th and select works are available for purchase.

Through a unique blend of street art, found objects, and music Washington reflects on his experiences as a neurodivergent black man navigating life in White Suburbia.
