Highlights from 2024 🎉

Tacoma Venues & Events brings people together at the Tacoma Dome, Greater Tacoma Convention Center, Cheney Stadium, historic Pantages and Rialto Theaters, and Theater on the Square. In 2024, they enriched our City in the following ways:
🔷 Hosted 1,186,057 attendees (estimated).
🔷 Housed 457 events at the Dome, Greater Tacoma Convention Center, Tacoma City Theaters, and Cheney Stadium.
🔷 Celebrated 29 graduation ceremonies with 8,700 graduates and 87,000 of their friends and family.
🔷 Generated $93.5 million in projected economic impact from the Dome and Greater Tacoma Convention Center.
🔷 Awarded $90,000 in grant funding for 39 events.
🔷 Issued 138 special event permits and 8 film permits.

This year, we are excited to have humanitarian and influencer Kwabi Amoah-Forson as our emcee! Through various humanitarian campaigns, he has assisted those in need in his community and across the country.

He also strives to educate others about the true meaning of peace and foster dialogue on the subject through “The Peace Bus’ He has been featured on PBS Television, King 5 News, Q13 Fox, and co-hosted last year’s Northwest Emmys as well as Tacoma’s very own Night Show. Three years ago, he was awarded the Tacoma Peace Prize and was invited to attend the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway.

We are thrilled to have Cordell Carter II as this year’s keynote speaker!

Cordell Carter II is the incoming CEO of the Carson Scholars Fund and founding director of the Aspen Institute Project on Belonging. He founded the Festival of the Diaspora and led the Aspen Institute Socrates Program. Carter has held key roles in organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and has been appointed as Commissioner to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships by President Biden. He is a sought-after speaker and facilitator on belonging and inclusion.

As President & CEO of Nineline Veteran Services, he has led key initiatives to support veterans’ transitions, combat homelessness, and improve access to essential services. He partners with organizations like the VA to mentor future leaders and promote solutions for veterans’ well-being. His work continues to make a lasting impact on the military community.

About Brian:
Brian Gatewood Sr. is the Founder and President of Innovative Change Makers (ICM), dedicated to empowering youth and fostering stronger communities. Inspired by his mother’s passion for service, Brian launched ICM in 2021 to provide mentorship, safe spaces, and alternatives to hazardous lifestyles. Under his leadership, ICM partners with organizations across Pierce County to deliver holistic programs that help youth thrive. The theme expands on last year’s focus, A Community Blueprint: Building Block by Block, by emphasizing collective action and shared purpose. By exploring how bridges—both literal and metaphorical—can unite people, the event aims to inspire attendees to commit to building a more inclusive and harmonious Tacoma.

Commencement Bank, in partnership with the Tacoma Dome and Nourish Pierce County, is hosting its first-ever "Hams for the Holidays" event on December 19 from 12pm-3pm, providing hams (and limited alternatives) for local families in need.

Please register and drive-thru Tacoma Dome Parking Lot G off of Wiley Avenue at your scheduled pick-up time. There will be a limited supply of hams, and they may run out. The limit is one ham (or alternative) per car.

Tacoma Venues & Events and the Tacoma Police Department, with the support of generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers, proudly hosted the second annual Thanksgiving Drive-Through Turkey Giveaway at the Tacoma Dome this morning. Together, we distributed 475 turkeys to the Tacoma community, spreading holiday cheer and gratitude!

The Tacoma Police Department and Tacoma Ministerial Alliance are spearheading the distribution of turkeys, also hosting giveaways at the Eastside Community Center on November 23 and the People’s Community Center on November 25.
