Looks like beautiful weather this weekend for the Orionids passing through - peak viewing times are this Friday and Saturday after midnight. Expect 10-20 meteors per hour with occasional persistent trains and bright fireballs. Lots of dark sky and open field at Bohamia for viewing!

We’d like to regularly offer Bohamia guests a connective yoga practice in a peaceful outdoor setting. We’re looking for outdoor loving yogis who would be interested in leading a Saturday morning and sunset class in exchange for a guaranteed minimum rate and free camping (or discount glamping) that weekend. We intend for this to be an ongoing monthly (or biweekly if it is popular!) opportunity for different instructors to connect with guests at Bohamia. If you would be interested in leading a class please message us for more details.
Volunteer Day Saturday 9/16
Project hours are 9 AM-4 PM. (Arrive and help out anytime during this window)
Volunteers who’d like to camp with us that evening are encouraged to do so! We’ll make a fire, grill some dogs, and have a nice night on the land.
HOW TO SIGN UP: Please message us on Instagram so that we know you’re coming. We’ll provide an entrance gate code. 2491 Berney Station Road, Talladega 35160. We’re an hour from Birmingham.
THE PROJECT: We’re cutting and removing brush to create a walking trail along the back end of the pond. We’ll cut a narrow path as we work out the best trail layout, then if we have time we’ll expand and level out the trail.
-Wear long pants and close toed shoes for the project.
-Work gloves if you have them. We also encourage eye protection. (We have extras)
-Don’t forget sunscreen!
-We could use extras of the following tools: pickaxes, hoes, small shovels.
THE HANGING OUT: Let’s cool off in the pond, walk to the river and waterfall, and enjoy this beautiful land and new friends with a shared commitment to the outdoors and community!
-Don’t forget snacks and lunch, and BYO favorite beverages
-Bring a swimsuit!
WANT TO CAMP?: Please join us! We’ll grill some dogs but bring anything else you’d like to throw on the grill.
-Musicians, Singers, Flow Arts peeps - please entertain us!

-We have a couple of acro mats if anyone would like to acro yoga
-Bring any camping gear you need - you’ll be able to park your car very close to your campsite.

Had the pleasure of meeting Doug Martin, the original caretaker of this property about twenty five years ago. He built most of the trails our campers enjoy today including the one that leads you to the beautiful Talladega Creek and waterfall. Doug led me to an old cemetery perched on a secret wooded hill in Bohamia. Looking forward to researching and cleaning up this space.
I can’t say just yet that we *recommend* hauling a 16,000lb 35’ camper up the entrance to Bohamia, but with the right driver and the right tow vehicle you can get pretty much anything up here! 😅 See you again soon, !!!
