This month we are celebrating those clubwomen who were awarded 'Volunteer of the Year' at the District level. Today we feature the winner Leane Rhodes from GFWC Woman's Club of Tallahassee.
Leane is a very enthusiastic member; because she can be quiet and unassuming, many club members do not realize the valuable asset that Leane is to the club and to our community. Leane is one of the most consistent Education & Libraries CSP volunteers assisting the nurses and she is greatly appreciated. At the end of 2024, Leane began volunteering at our club’s adopted school. She helps the kindergarten teachers with many tasks during the day. This can be paperwork or working one-on-one with students needing individual help. Regardless of the tasks, Leane is enthusiastic about her work. Leane is deserving of the honor of being our club’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations and thank you for all you do in our community and our club!

Our club ladies and Civic Engagement and Outreach volunteers delivered over 1,600 cookies to 16 Fire Stations in Leon County to honor and thank these wonderful first responders👏👏We wanted to show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work keeping our community safe. These wonderful and amazing Firefighters run into dangerous situations every day and they truly are our firefighting Heroes!

What an honor to see May Mann Jennings inducted into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame! Over 45 GFWC Florida club women were in attendance. She served as Florida First Lady when her husband was Governor from 1901-1905. She was President of our GFWC Florida Federation 1914-1917. May Mann was instrumental in establishing Royal Palm Park, now known as the Everglades, and in creating the State Board of Forestry, the State Park Service and a reservation for the Seminole Indians. Thank you to the Florida Commission on the Status of Women and Florida Women's Hall of Fame Committee for honoring our May Mann Jennings!
