Back in October! We photographed 80 Pit Bulls for Pit Bull Awareness Month and 60 were from the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center (PRC). We did this with our friends, Kelly and Ilana from FairyTail Pet Care. The other 20 were from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

I'm thrilled to share that the team at PRC enlarged some of the photos and I got to hang them up in the lobby today.

I'm not sure how many of you know, but back in 2013, I worked at an animal shelter in South Florida and that's where I taught myself pet photography by practicing every day, mostly on Pit Bulls.

In 2016, I moved to Tampa and started volunteering at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay taking adoption photos, just for fun. I had a new full-time job in marketing at a software company, but my passion was really taking photos of adoptable animals, to help them get adopted.

My adoption photo hobby quickly turned into a business where we take photos of private families and their pets, which is what pays the bills and supports me, Mary and our son Benjamin, who is 2.5 now. He loves seeing all the photos I take at the shelter.

Last year, I began to manifest a dream for the future where I would be able to take adoption photos as a full time job. How amazing would that be?

To do that, I created the Second Shot program, which is where brands, businesses and companies can sponsor our adoption photo efforts, which would allow me to spend as much time as I can taking adoption photos instead of taking on as many private clients.

in 2024, we photographed 571 adoptable animals instead of our usual 120 or so every year.
