Shop Local. I’ve said it so many times, downtown is back. We are so thankful for all of those who came for Black Friday and again today, for Shop Local. It was the best day of sales since we opened in August of last year. Can a small stationary store make a difference? Can a rural city make a difference? Will people remember us? Like this letter we received from Sally, (on Odd Balls nonetheless) should remind us all that there is no place like Tarboro, and Main Street is alive and well. Thank you to everyone who came to visit, laugh, shop, and explore….thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Unexpected. We had a new visitor this morning, and as I was walking her around the store, she asked me what people were shopping for? I responded, to find the unexpected. The store is being completely reset for holidays, but to celebrate you, or others, these are the most incredible candle holders. Shop downtown, explore the stores, eat free candy, and stop by to see us, the sass, it’s free. Customer service is an additional fee.

We have started preparing the store for the holidays! Over the next several days the store will begin its transition for the Holiday Open House on Friday November 8th and Saturday November 9th. Quiet Luxury. We love puzzles. We love to see your finished puzzles, we also love a 1500 piece! Our Halloween puzzles are really fun and range from 100-1000 pieces! Beautifully wrapped, perhaps a little sass, and I might even offer you a caramel while you shop…join us downtown, fall is right around the corner!

Updates on the new, but old, store. Our team (John, Opie, and of course Jason) are about 80 percent done with the demolition work. We expect our architects to arrive tomorrow morning for measurements then plans in six weeks or so. It looks like we will be opening in the new year, as we want the new place to be done properly. We will partner only with local resources, our workbook will carry them through the season, and I can’t wait to share the journey with you. The store will be the second largest retail store in the 400 block, preserved and modernized in the most elegant way. We delight in meeting new people and we remain confident that downtown Tarboro will return as a shopping destination. This is belief. In ourselves, in this place, in our partners, and definitely in our community. Join the movement.
