If you have received your Temecula Theater 2024-2025 Season programs in the mail, you may have noticed that we are in there! We are so excited to announce that we will be presenting our own show at the theater on January 11, 2025 as part of this season’s Aloha series! We typically perform at the theater alongside Polynesian musical artists, but this show will focus on our students with perhaps a couple special guests. Congratulations to our dancer Mayumi who traveled across the country to compete in Te `Ori Ora in Florida! She competed in both `ote`a and `aparima categories. We are bidding a fond farewell this week to our kaikamahine dancer Mia who is moving back to Hawai`i. We have been delighted to see her light up the hālau and watch her progress as a performer, especially as a Tahitian soloist. She was our sole kaikamahine entry in Te `Ori Here this year. She had our last class with us this week, and we got to spend some time with her at our fun Halloween party. Mia, we wish you all the best, and we ask the kūpuna to bless your future endeavors and your journey in Polynesian dance. Your Puahi’s `ohana will miss you, and we hope to keep in touch and see you soon!

Our Kumu Brenda’s kumu Rich Pedrina of Hālau Hula `O Nāpunaheleonāpua has said that one way you can recognize a hula dancer is if they’re wearing a flower in their hair. Not only do we wear these flowers for performances, but they are also part of our uniform for class. On this day a year ago (12/2/2022), we participated once again in the @cityoftemecula ‘s Santa’s Electric Light Parade. The theme was “Temecula Safe for the Holidays,” so we chose to decorate our float with the honu (turtle) which is a symbol of protection. Our hālau won best marchers for the parade that year!
