Are there any dates that are significant to the two of you as a couple? Maybe your first date, the day you met, your dating anniversary??

If there’s not a date that just calls your name and you’re struggling to pick a date for your big day, here’s a few tips to help you get started —

• Think about your must-haves for the day — food, flowers, indoor versus outdoor ceremony, vendors and venues you want to work with, etc.

• Now consider the different seasons, are any of those above out of season and going to be more expensive or not ideal? If an outdoor ceremony with tons of fresh flowers is your must-have then a December-February wedding may not work for you.

• Once you narrow down your season. Are there any important holidays/birthdays that would conflict with your wedding? Check with your VIP guests to see if there’s any conflicts for them during those months.

• Once all of that is done, now start vetting your venue and vendor choices and see if there’s any dates that everyone you must have is available! And voila! You have set your date! 💍

Do you HAVE to pick a theme for you wedding? Absolutely not. You can just pick a few of your favorite colors and go to town!

But I think picking a theme for the day just sets the mood and it’s so much better when you tailor that to make your wedding reflect you as a couple!

Anything you like can be a theme for your wedding, you just have to be a little creative. I looove candles and greenery for a wedding. So this ‘Enchanted’ aisle is my dream come true!

What is your favorite wedding theme?? ✨

Timeline Tips 💍

Begin with the following —

• Time allowed to enter the venue
• Ceremony
• Desired Dinner Time
• Sunset
• Time needed to be out of venue

Now work around those times to set the rest!

Tips for everything else —

• Allow around 45 minutes per person for hair AND makeup (1.5 hour total per person) & 1 hour for each for the bride (2 hours for hair and makeup)
• First Look is typically about 1-1.5 hours before the ceremony
• Guests will begin to arrive about 30min - 1 hour before — so ceremony location should be set and ready and bridal party should be hidden away by this time!
• Buffets take around 45 minutes to get everyone through and sometimes more depending on guest count - try to allow enough time to get guests through the line before scheduling the next event
• Your vendors are a great resource to establish the timeline, giving them a tentative timeline for the day and allowing them to make notes will ensure everyone is on the same page and all events are accounted for!

Remember, it’s completely normal to run behind at some point during the day. Adding buffer times will help alleviate stress because you can catch up at some point. Only a few events are crucial and even those are okay to run a few minutes behind!

What is your biggest timeline tip for the day?! ✨

It was a tough one to see all of our beautiful dresses get loaded up and taken away… I’m going to miss this place and miss being The One Bridal Co. so much!

It was an amazing 16 months and I’m so thankful to everyone who supported our small business and made it all worth it!

Goodbye, Terre Haute 🫶🏼

The absolute first step you should take when planning your wedding, before you reach out to any vendors or buy a single wedding related item, is to SET A BUDGET.

We all know it’s the worst part, but what’s even worse is getting your heart set on certain aspects of your dream wedding and realizing later you’ve gone over budget and it’s no longer possible. Your wedding should be exactly what you want without starting your new family off in major debt because of it!

Here are a few tips for setting and sticking to a wedding budget:
1. Get Specific
• Define your Priorities as a Couple — is it the venue, food, desserts, or guest experience?
• Research Costs — what is the average cost for venues, catering, and other services in your area?

2. Pick a Number
• Determine where funds will be coming from — who is contributing and how much?
• Set a Goal Amount and a Maximum Amount — in all things, it’s very easy to go over budget when planning a wedding, so find a number everyone is comfortable with and that will be the Goal.

3. Break It Down
• List all potential expenses and allocate specific amounts to each category — do this to where your overall total is closer to your Goal Amount than your Maximum Amount.
• Don’t forget to include the easy to forget items like gratuity, alterations, breakfast for bridal parties, and even miscellaneous items you’ll need along the way.

4. Get Organized
• Use budgeting tools, create a detailed spreadsheet, or utilize a wedding planner!
• Monitor your spending and write down every expense.

5. Be Flexible
• Adjust as you go. If there are categories you want to spend more in than you originally allocated, readjust and pull money from categories that are less important to you and you know you can save on.

6. Look at All The Options
• Check out less traditional venues or vendors that may offer pricing that is less than the average. Also consider getting married on a different day of the week or during the less popular months where rates may be lower.
• Price all decor for purchase, for rent, and DIY. Determine what savings are worth your sanity during this time and what you can manage to save!

7. Seek Professional Advice
• A wedding planner can help realistically set your budget and keep you on track — of course this is something you’ll have to put into your budget!

8. Most Importantly: Stick to It!

Today marks the start of my wedding season for my Day of Coordinating and Planning clients and I am SO excited! ✨

Working with brides to make their wedding dreams come to life just makes me so happy and reminds me what weddings are all about. It also brings me back to one of the best days of my life, the day I married my favorite person!

And please, let’s take a moment for the dress - Lorraine by Rebecca Ingram is still one of my favorites! 🫶🏼

My bestie as a bride! 😩🤩

When I opened last year, I was going through all of the dresses I had purchased and one of the dresses just so happened to have the same name as my best friend’s daughter. I immediately texted Sam and said you have to try this dress on, it’s your size and it’s name is Nora!

She already had her dress but still wanted to try it on.. So when Kendra and Abby came to pick out their bridesmaids dresses, Sam couldn’t resist. The rest is history 🫶🏼
