Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. Growing people and community through the Arts!

TRAHC is a people-building and community-building organization – a leadership organization of arts and ideas that works to create an energized, creative, connected community. Formed in 1978 by community leaders with generous assistance from the Junior League of Texarkana, TRAHC’s goals were to protect, develop, take advantage of, and provide all citizens with access to our own cultural resources.

As we have progressed, the “arts” have also proven to be a wise economic investment as well as a tourism stimulus. TRAHC is both a presenter and a preserver of historical legacies for the Perot Theatre and the Regional Arts Center. The guiding principals of TRAHC are:
- Artistic Excellence
- Education
- Collaboration
- Leadership
- Participation
- Accessibility
- Pride of Place
- Service to the Community
- Community Involvement
- Organizational Innovation

On Tuesday Oct. 29, local educators joined National Teaching Artist and Focus 5 Consultant Kay Thomas to learn how to integrate art in their curriculum with Paper Sculpture Portrait Busts during the Kennedy Center Arts Integration Institute. After an amazing lunch at Cafe Lucille, Kay modeled the lesson for educators with students from North Heights Community School. We loved watching both the adults and the kids get some time to create!

Thank you so much to United Way of Greater Texarkana for supporting education and making this event possible!

Hey educators! 👩🏽‍🏫🍎

Join National Teaching Artist Kay Thomas for an enriching, local professional development that will teach teachers K-12 how to integrate arts into any prep! She will be teaching her workshop “The Art of Paper Sculpture: Portrait Busts,” that she has taken to educators and schools all over the nation.

Through our partnership with The Kennedy Center, we hope to bring resources and experiences that inspire, excite and empower students and young artists, plus the tools and connections to help educators incorporate the arts into classrooms of all types.
