Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council, Inc. Growing people and community through the Arts!

TRAHC is a people-building and community-building organization – a leadership organization of arts and ideas that works to create an energized, creative, connected community. Formed in 1978 by community leaders with generous assistance from the Junior League of Texarkana, TRAHC’s goals were to protect, develop, take advantage of, and provide all citizens with access to our own cultural resources.

As we have progressed, the “arts” have also proven to be a wise economic investment as well as a tourism stimulus. TRAHC is both a presenter and a preserver of historical legacies for the Perot Theatre and the Regional Arts Center. The guiding principals of TRAHC are:
- Artistic Excellence
- Education
- Collaboration
- Leadership
- Participation
- Accessibility
- Pride of Place
- Service to the Community
- Community Involvement
- Organizational Innovation

Did you know? Arts integration combines creativity and learning, helping students connect the dots between subjects and art forms! ✨

By engaging in creative processes, students deepen their understanding of both academics and the arts, making learning more dynamic and meaningful.

Let’s inspire the next generation of thinkers and creators—because art is essential!

The Discovery Place! 🧬 The interactive museum closed in 2023, but provided lifetime memories for so many local families. From dressing up in the pioneer play area to talking through a can communication system, children were able to immerse themselves in history, science and culture. We are happy to display this piece of beautiful, interactive Texarkana History

Sponsored by the TRAHC African American Committee (TAAC), Good Trouble Quilts: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Congressman John Lewis is an exhibition of 35 original quilted artworks that center around the work and impact of the Congressman.

This exhibition was developed by The Atlanta Quilt Festival, Inc. and will conclude the trilogy which has centered on Congressman John Lewis’s legacy. Texarkana is the exhibit’s final stop before the works are returned to the artists. TAAC has also partnered with The Quilting Sisters of Color (Dallas), The Pleasant Hill Quilting Guild (Linden), and the TAAC Quilting Group (Texarkana) to feature supplementary fiber artworks in the exhibit.

The Regional Arts Center is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and, like all of TRAHC’s visual art exhibits, is FREE to the public. School and civic group tours are available upon request.

Today's the day! It's 💛

Art brings us together and helps us see the world in a new way. It enriches our schools, empowers our youth and gives voices to all stories. Art is for everyone, and we want it to be accessible for ALL of our community members!

"Art is the best possible introduction to the culture of the world. I love it for the buried hopes, the garnered memories, the tender feeling it can summon at a touch. It washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." - Pablo Picasso

Join us in making a difference - because when the arts thrive, our community does too! Every donation, big or small, makes an impact.
