“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” ~Psalms 90:17
We have a career update. We have officially accepted new positions as full-time Lolli and Pop, while maintaining the roles of caterers/event planners/Confetti Affairs owners. After more than 25 years as teachers and directors, we will retire from public education after this school year and move to join our family in Graham.
We, of course, are beyond ecstatic to be able to see our granddaughters (and their parents, too!) on a daily basis and never have to miss another T-ball game, recital, performance, or special event, but this decision does come with some bittersweet emotions as well.
We have been abundantly blessed to have started our directing careers in Wortham and Mexia (what a great team we had working with Heather Stuver) and ended those careers at Lewisville ISD with The Colony High School and Theatre at The Colony!
10 years ago, we stood on the Theatre at The Colony stage, looked around at our new home, and said, “Can’t you just imagine the possibilities?” Yet the reality has been so much sweeter than anything we could envision.
As with all success, the road was often very rocky. We encouraged our new students to dream big and believe that these dreams can become a reality if they work hard and do not accept failure as an option, but we hit one road block after another simply because it had never been done like that before. In addition to our mantra of “imagine the possibilities” we added, “That’s a great problem to have!”. Yet our administrators (LISD Fine Arts a Missey Head and Bill Watson, TCHS principal James Hill and Lakeview MS principal Jeremy Turner, LISD Superintendent Dr. Kevin Rogers, LISD School Board members including Trisha Sheffield, Tracy Miller, Kronda Thimesch, Angie Cox) our LISD Theatre Family (Dusty Thompson, Scott Taylor, Laura McNary) our students, their parents, and our community (The Colony Chamber of Commerce) fought tirelessly to build new roads, paved with a new legacy and a common mission of telling stories that made a difference and brought joy.
While a lot has changed over the past decade, the continuous support for Theatre at The Colony never wavered. New students, parents, administrators, board members also imagined the possibilities and joined us on our mission, working to improve our facilities, recognizing the benefits of arts education, and advocating for our students. Thank you, Bradley Willi, Deanna Gerde, Lindsey Harkins, Josh Mollsbee, Kelly Kirkland, Justin Gilbreath, Jennifer Surgeson, Kristi Hassett, Jenny Proznik, Katherine Sells, Erica Roberson, Jeff Lahey, Dr. Lori Rapp, and so many others, for all that you have done for us! We especially want to thank Dr. Tim Baxter who loved us from the moment he met us and never failed to fight tirelessly, and encourage and uplift us throughout the past 7 years. We are so eternally grateful for you and your precious parents and love that you will always be a part of our family.
Finally, thank you to Kelsey, Kaylee, Ryan, Ethan, Lily, Layla, and Camilla, for loving us unconditionally and being with us on this ride of a lifetime. We can’t wait for this new adventure with you and to be right where we belong!
