Ventura County Gilbert & Sullivan Repertoire Company is holding auditions for their upcoming Gilbert & Sullivan production, Ruddigore or the Witch's Curse, performing October 4-20, 2024. Rehearsals begin August 19, 2024.

AUDITION DATES:
Saturday, 6/29: 3-6PM
Sunday, 6/30 1:30-5PM

We are holding live auditions, including walk-ins, but will also accept initial video submissions. Callbacks are live. Please submit appointment requests with headshot, video/audio and resume, if you have them available. Please prepare two songs, one ballad, and one up-tempo. At least one song must be in English. Classical, musical theater, gospel, pop, contemporary genres are acceptable. You must bring sheet music in the key you are planning to sing it in for the accompanist. It is preferable that your pieces be memorized, as holding music is distracting and will not allow you to express the song as well as you possibly can.

We welcome everyone between the ages of 13 and 70'sh, who can sing, act, move to music, take direction and be a team player to audition. Some roles are gender fluid.

The Hillcrest Center for the Arts presents “An Evening With the Aging Ingenue” With Sara Jean Ford: Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 7:30pm on the outdoor patio stage at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts. Tickets for this event are going fast, so don’t wait! Join Broadway veteran Sara Jean Ford as she brings her hit Broadwayworld web series “The Aging Ingénue” to the stage, with an raucously funny evening of music and storytelling. An Evening with The Aging Ingénue is hosted by Sara’s fictional alter-ego Claire Cooke -- a Broadway starlette all grown up -- as she struggles to navigate her new reality as an aging actor & mother - all while singing songs that she is far too old to sing (and sharing secrets that she is far too comfortable revealing). Featuring songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Minchin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Charles Strouse, and Stephen Schwartz -- really just a bunch of saccharine sweet & virginally youthful songs -- but sung with the emotional depth and gravitas that can only be gained from what 40+ years in this business will sear into your soul. Please note: this performance is rated PG-13 and may not be appropriate for younger audiences. HillcrestArts.com or 805-381-1246.
