Earlier this month, we kicked off our 2023-24 season of Kids and the Arts field trips with an extraordinary performance of Sewam Native American Dance, featuring the captivating Grass Song. Traditionally, this song accompanied a Grass Dance which is one of the oldest and most widely used dances in Native American culture.
The students, teachers, and chaperones alike were entranced by the beautiful portrayal of this rich cultural experience.

The arts are truly for all! Yesterday, over 1,600 students from 14 different schools ranging from Transitional Kindergarten all the way to 12th grade made their way to Fred Kavli Theatre to see Grimmz Fairy Tales! We also had largest attendance of kids with special needs and their aides at a single field trip.

"Ori Tahiti" or Tahitian dancing was traditionally used to enthrall a lover, challenge an enemy, worship a god, or offer a prayer. Outlawed in Tahiti in the 1800s, the cultural and oral traditions lived on and the art saw a resurgence in the mid-20th century.
