Using one of my Palin Thorley Quintal Vases to show the Williamsburg Design Style - Most designs are large, fan shaped and Buxum- sometimes, three time larger than the vase! - I restrained myself from doing it larger!

Vessels from the Colonial period (1700-1780) were not only functional but also beautifully designed, showcasing the craftsmanship of the era. Quintals, distinctive five-fingered vases,along with ceramic Bricks and the elegant Delftware, were highly regarded and widely used throughout the homes of our thirteen colonies. These pieces served practical purposes while also adding to the aesthetic appeal of colonial interiors, particularly in significant historical centers like Williamsburg, the Capital of Virginia.

Ohhh Myyyy!!! The visit to the Toledo Museum of Art to do a little research on the Rachel Ruysch Exhibit for my upcoming class Art and blooms at Longwood Gardens was UNBELIEVABLE!!! I saw some of her works at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam - but nothing prepared me for this amazing collection put together by the curator Robert Schindler! Which, by some Crazy Luck got to meet and tour with him through his exhibit! That took him many years to put together- hopefully my class will benefit with such an array of new knowledge on one of the greatest still life painters that ever lived!
