How’s THIS for a show souvenir?! When Taylor Windsor, ‘29, told her grandmother she had been cast in Legally Blonde, her grandmother brought out a copy of the Ursuline (the former SUA newspaper publication) from 1967 detailing the first-ever SUA musical, Oliver! Talent runs in the family, and Taylor’s grandmother was in the production! What a find!!! 💛💙🏹💛💙🏹

PROUD PERFORMING ARTS DIRECTOR POST: This group. This. Group. Right. Here. They have worked their voices off the past two months preparing for visitations and what an absolute showcase of talent and dedication it was! Led by Allison Krzyminski, this group performed The Awakening EIGHT times and their musical theatre medley SEVEN times…..that’s 15 performances in two days! Not to mention this group ALSO contains the visitation Emcee, the visitation SuperFan, the visitation Stilts Artist, and the visitation Swim Team representative…which meant four pep rallies for them as well! Oh, did I forget to mention it’s also Legally Blonde Audition Week? THIS GROUP IS UNSTOPPABLE!!!! SO PROUD.

Congrats to our Arrows for reaching their Arrow Card mega-goal and getting Friday off of school! We will start auditions at 1:00PM. For boys who are still in school, feel free to come at 3:30 and we’ll make sure you’re seen!

Happy Audition Week, everyone! A couple of important reminders about auditions - you only have to come to one day of auditions, and there isn’t a formal sign up. Come dressed to move. All dance auditions will be recorded. (If you still need to learn the dance, it’s on the Drive, and people rehearse it in the Black Box on Monday and Tuesday during lunch and seminar!) Music auditions will be individual, and dance auditions will be in groups of 5-10. Don’t forget to fill out your audition form (online)! Thursday is 3:30 to 5:30, Friday is 3:30 to 5:30 (if the Arrow card mega goal is met, auditions will be 1:00pm to 4:00pm) and Saturday is 10:00 to 12:00. We are expecting a large turnout, and a competitive process - be ready to impress!

While we normally don’t pre-cast a show, the creative team of SUA’s Legally Blonde unanimously agreed on our first casting decision at our production meeting last night. EVERYONE MEET PIPPIN, AKA “Bruiser.” He is the goodest boy, looks great in pink sweaters, only wears designer collars, and was instrumental in getting Elle into Harvard. SUCH A GOODEST BOY, Pippin!!!! (Pippin’s dad is our scenic designer, Paul Alday!)

Or perhaps you’re a 6th - 8th grader at SUA and you’re looking for ways to get some experience before your high school musical journey starts? Toledo Met has classes available for all ages to brush up on your musical theatre skills before SUA’s Legally Blonde auditions! And for our JA students - don’t forget that St. John’s will audition for their junior academy musical The Drowsy Chaperone, Jr. TONIGHT and TOMORROW, and auditions for SFS’s junior high production of James and the Giant Peach are just around the corner! So many opportunities to get experience and training!
