We’re in the People Business

In 1946 when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, The Dwarf House Grill he was criticized by business men for being too generous. He was told he would never make any money with the amount of food he gave away for free. Truett believed in kindness and people, and that the critics were wrong. This belief brought him through adversity onto open his first Chick-fil-A in 1967. He continued to run his business and live by the principles that when you put God first, family second and business third things just work. He deeply loved his customers and employees.

This legacy carries on today in our own Chick-fil-A Sylvania and Talmadge. Our operator, Jonathan Winn prioritizes generosity highly in his business model, both for his guests and employees. We regularly feed our various community groups for free while the employees enjoy experiences such as appreciation week, and monthly bonuses for employee of the month. It was Truett that first made the statement that we are not in the chicken business, we’re in the people business - we just happen to serve chicken. This holds true today.
