Our Story

This page is not officially part of the VFW or Post 9271. It shares information about the Post, its members and the Tonganoxie community. Its administrator is a member of the post who started this page to help inform and to serve this community. About Tonganoxie VFW Post 9271: We are a veteran’s organization that meets monthly in comradeship and to serve our fellow veterans and local community. All of our members have the distinction of serving or having served our country overseas in an area that has been declared a hostile or a dangerous location. We have members from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, and many other conflicts. We have all at one point sworn an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution the United States of America. In Tonganoxie we contribute thousands of hours annually making our community a better place. We own and administer the VFW Park, over 20 acres that is used for a variety of activities by the whole community. We share our post building with the community and nonprofit organizations. We provide some medical furniture and equipment to families in need at no charge. We work with Scouting and USD 464 to help our children to become proud citizens. Our honor guard assists in a number of funerals each year and in numerous ceremonies. We allow our building to be used as a polling station during elections and as a place for candidates to meet the public. Our Auxiliary is side by side with us in service, without their support we would be ineffective. We are intertwined throughout the community in selfless community service. Our commitment goes beyond Tonganoxie though. We assist at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth, we partner with Posts in Lansing, Leavenworth, Desoto, and Lawrence to make Kansas a better place. We do not and have never limited our assistance or our resources based upon political party affiliation, national origin, race, religion or any other distinction. We are proud to serve this community, this state and our beloved country. Thank you Tongie for allowing us to serve, it is a privilege and an honor. No One Does More For Veterans VFW!
