Every Thanksgiving, my family writes down on a card what they are thankful for. To be honest, some years I found it to be a chore and just another thing to do to prepare for the holiday. But this year, I found myself filling out that card readily and with a grateful heart. God has graciously blessed my family, despite many hardships and heartache.

This is the post I’ve been looking forward to all year! As I reflect on this past growing season, I am grateful to each and every one of you who has chosen to not only support my small business, but also bless those around you by doing so. Through your thoughtfulness and generosity, you have:

Shared in the joy of a friend with a new baby
Comforted a recently widowed neighbor
Commemorated a friend’s citizenship ceremony
Empathized with a friend going through a miscarriage
Welcomed a newly adopted child
Congratulated an aspiring thespian
Donated generously to a local charity
Encouraged countless friends experiencing the difficulties of life
And celebrated many loved ones birthdays

Just to name a few. What a special opportunity I have to play a small, yet significant part in your lives! Thank you so much for sharing your stories with me. They’re just flowers, but they’re also not just flowers.

The flower cart will be open one last time this Wednesday 10/16 at 9am until sellout!

The 2024 season will come to a close on Wednesday as temperatures are expected to dip below freezing early in the morning. I will be doing one last big harvest of everything in the garden tomorrow!

Pumpkin preorders are open for next week, but I only have three left in my stash! I’m not restocking, so make sure to get yours while you can. 🎃 Psst: Boss’s Day is on Wednesday and the deluxe size would make a special gift!

Flower season is quickly winding down here at Astera. Although the weather is still in favor, the garden is getting tired (and so am I). 😆 The plants have worked hard this season and they are running out of steam. Except for the dahlias and snapdragons. They’re going to love the cooler weather next week!

Yesterday I had the honor of donating this floral pumpkin arrangement for a silent auction fundraiser. 🎗️ Each hand carved pumpkin is a messy labor of love (and a slight risk of losing a finger or two 😆) but the final creations are just so fun.

I have only a handful of unique heirloom pumpkins left for purchase this season (and they are super fun ones, BTW), so check out the offerings at www.asterablooms.com before they’re gone!

The flower cart will be open tonight for Fresh Flower Friday from 4-7 PM or sellout. Due to many custom orders this week, the flowers will be pretty limited tonight and I will update when/if sold out. Exact cash and Venmo are accepted.

Due to several custom pre-orders (thank you, friends ☺️☺️☺️), Fresh Flower Friday is closed today. I am crossing my fingers to be open for one or two more FFFs this season, but we’ll see if the weather cooperates! As always, you can preorder flowers & pumpkin arrangements for pickup any day of the week, not just Friday!

As the 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ growing season is quickly coming to a close, I’m in a little bit of denial over here. It feels like it was just March, and I couldn’t wait to get outside and start planting. After transitioning from a professional career to the stay-at-home-mom life, I’m re-learning how to embrace and savor each season for the unique beauty it brings. 🍂

My seed starting area is the opposite of glamorous. I have grow lights hanging by string from ceiling grid in the unfinished basement. BUT, these beautiful little seedlings brings me so much joy! 🌱 Seeing them come alive (slowly but surely) gets me so excited for the season ahead. In a few short months, these tiny little plants will be full of beautiful blooms! 🌸
