One of the most unexpected blessings in building this business has been watching my customers grow—with me, and with these macarons.

She came to my stand years ago as a little girl, biting into her first pink macaron. Now she’s back, grown, radiant, holding a box like a connoisseur.

I used to wonder how to build customer loyalty. I didn’t know the strategy—I just knew I wanted people to feel special. I remembered their favorite flavors. I greeted them by name. I showed up.

There’s a quote by Maya Angelou that lives in my bones:

As if I couldn't love what I do even more 🥰💐

Some market days, especially the ones before a holiday, can get a bit crazy. Making sure all the pickup orders are set, samples are ready to go, and I can easily feel like I'm being pulled in every direction both physically and mentally.

And then, something like so innocent and sweet like this will happen, where all that stress melts away.

No lie....i LOVE being called Ms. Mel the Cookie Lady 😂...i mean if that's not a reputation to be proud of, i don't know what is 🤗

These next two weeks are nonstop at the kitchen, but despite the stress that comes with this season, I remind myself that every box will bring a smile to at least one person's face....or at least we hope so 🤞🏽

Whatever may be bringing you stress this holiday season... whether it's getting all the gifts for your kids, trying to budget it all, or simply figuring out the holiday schedule, I hope you can pause for a moment and know that you're doing enough.

My daughter Jaime sent me some of your macarons - and what an amazing treat! I have had them from other bakeries, but I have never been impressed. Your macarons are unforgettable! The delicate flavors are a thing of unique beauty. I saved six of them to share over tea with a dear English friend - and she too had never tasted macarons quite like these! When you ask for a sign, and it comes in the form of handmade cards😭😭😭

This month was crazy with Mother's Day and the stress distributing all the shipping and delivery orders definitely took priority over my birthday

I felt detached from a usual celebration and just wasn't in the mood

But, of course that changes when I personally deliver to one of my regulars at the farmers market and her two toddlers give me these handmade cards

"Happy Birthday Miss Mel".... I was about to cry right there on their porch but I figured that'd be unprofessional...lol

It's been rough these past two months, but this little reminder keeps me focused on my purpose.

How did you guys celebrate Mother's Day this past weekend?

Instead of macarons, someone ordered an ube cake for their mom to be delivered on Sunday.

Not a bad idea, right?

Whatever you decided to do for her, I hope it came from the heart.

That's really what they want. Whether it's macarons, some decadent desserts, flowers, or a letter in the mail.... the recognition of their hard work is sometimes the most powerful gesture a mother can receive.
