An American Classical Ballet Conservatory for grades 7-14 including academics for high school students. The mission of the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory is to provide professional-level training, education and performance experience in classical ballet and other dance forms for young students dedicated to the art of dance.

Sharon Dante founded the Nutmeg Ballet in December 1969, developingna training program and performance curriculum which attracted students from over thirty-four states and a number of countries around the world. Through her passion, dedication, and commitment to excellence, she led the Nutmeg from a single studio into an internationally recognized ballet conservatory. Happy birthday, Sharon!

Yesterday, we wrapped up our final performance of the Nutcracker for the 2024 season! We are overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone that came out to support us and our students for these seven beautiful performances.

Congratulations to our students, parents, faculty, volunteers, and community support network for both weekend of performances. We couldn’t do it without the help of our wonderful community.

The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory

The Nutmeg’s training program for students grades 7 -12 and Post High School. Our training combines the fundamentals of the Vaganova methodology with a blend of neo-classical and contemporary styles. The Nutmeg offers both a Year-Round Residency Program and a Summer Program, each immersing students in intensive study and training. The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory is unique in its dedication to teaching classical ballet alongside a full resident performance season, thus placing equal emphasis on both training and performance skills. The commitment of The Nutmeg’s faculty and guest artists is to utilize this ideal combination of experiences to prepare students for the demands of 21st century professional dance companies. Additionally, the school maintains a full Conservatory Academic Program (CAP) that provides educational options as well as full college preparation for students who endeavor to further their academic careers in a university setting.
