Good morning Flower Friends!!! It’s time for FSF!!! 💕

Flower Stand Friday is on now, and we have the first Ranunculus of the season for you! I’m so excited to share these pretties, they are my absolute favorite spring bloom! (I have to say Spring because y’all know how I feel about ✨Dahlias✨) 😂😂😂

This is the flower that’s to blame for all of this.

My gateway flower. My beloved Ranunculus.

They are the most laborious spring flower. I plant them in the late fall in the high tunnel. Every day, covering and uncovering with frost cloth, opening and closing the tunnel. Watering and fertilizing with buckets when the hoses are all frozen, and hoping they survive polar vortexes so we can get to THIS point. Are they worth it??? What do you think?!?

It’s time for FSF, aka FLOWER STAND FRIDAY!!!

Y’all. These yellow/pink double tulips might be my new fav. I didn’t grow Finola this year, which was my former favorite and last year got wiped out by hail and broke my heart. I planted a mix and this variety (crème upstar) was in it. That, and it pairs so well with the pastel purple and lily flowered variety Claudia.

I’m so excited that these late season tulips decided to grace us with their presence just in time for Easter weekend.

The (self-serve) flower stand is stocked and ready for you here at 3717 w 525 south, Trafalgar. All bouqs are $20 and we take cash in the cash box, Venmo and Apple Pay. Thanks for choosing local flowers, we appreciate you!

Tonight’s sunset was a work of art!!! I love seeing the day end in a blaze of glory, and there’s something so peaceful about watching the light fade. It’s my cue to rest.

It’s a rainy one today, so it’s a good thing Tulips LOVE rain!

Last Flower Stand of the week! We’ve been able to raise a bit of money so far for Jen’s farm and I’ll let you know what our total is after we close today. 🩷 Thank you to everyone who went out of their way yesterday to come and get flowers, and everyone who plans on coming today, it means so much to us! Our community is the BEST, and it made my heart very happy to see all of you show up for us this week. 🩷🌷💐

The tulips have survived another round of storms! And this one decided to bloom during the crazy weather last night! I love that it bloomed in the face of adversity. 🩷

Whew. 4 probable (waiting on NWS to confirm and grade) tornados across Indiana last night, I hope all of you are doing okay this morning! This time of year is scary!

Our road is passable and the winds are less severe today so I’ll have the stand back open at 9am!

Well, I harvested as many tulips as I could- but there are many more that weren’t ready yet, so I had no choice to leave them. I just tucked them in- crossing fingers now!
Kenobi was my helper as always- he prefers that I water his head instead of wash the dirt off the tulips. 😆

Did you know that tulips will open and close daily? Most tulips you get at a grocery store or even a wholesaler have been shipped and stored for weeks before they get to you, so are less likely to have the energy left to do so. Reason #793 why I love locally grown flowers!

And, if you prefer the closed tulip look you can always prick the stem right underneath the flower head with a pin to prevent it from opening anymore. 🩷

I can’t put up the open sign but the flower stand is OPEN!! It’s a windy one today, but we’ve got our first bunch of purple tulips out there!

We have some crazy weather coming our way today (including chances of hail and possible tornadoes) so if you need me, I’ll be pulling every tulip that might be slightly ready. 😬Man, Midwest weather gives me PTSD!
