Today’s Fun Fact: Lake Tahoe boat inspection stations are now open for the summer! Boating season is here, but every motorized watercraft must be inspected for aquatic invasive species before launching.

Here’s how the new parking system went!

Now that we've closed out the first year of our parking program, we wanted to share a heartfelt THANK YOU to our guests and community for your participation. We know that change can be difficult, but we did it together. We're so grateful for your participation in our parking reservation program and for your willingness to take advantage of improved public transportation options this winter. Now that reservation requirements have wrapped up for the 23-24 season, here's what we've learned:

What went well:
🚗 Less gridlock! Weekend traffic along SR-89 has been significantly reduced.
🚌 900% increase in usage of our free Park & Ride program. We had 5,000 riders this season take part in this initiative!
👬 154% increase in the average # of skiers per car (From 1.3 – 3.31 people per car during reservation periods). Nice work carpooling!

What we'll work on:
📱 We'll continue to refine and improve our online parking reservation system with our third-party partner
🚙 Improving egress, particularly after peak skiing hours by utilizing a third lane and actively managing traffic flow
👮 Enforcing violations fairly

Together, we made positive strides toward relieving congestion on SR-89, Olympic Valley Road, and Alpine Meadows Road. For the 24-25 season, we’ll continue with free and paid parking reservations. We expect the program to remain largely the same as this season but we are committed to refining where possible to reduce friction points in the process. Keep an eye out for updates here on social, on our blog, or on our website.
