The Big Game Hunter Continues to Stalk High Finishes
When we last checked on Big Game Leo deep in the forest from his hunting den in early April, he had advanced to consecutive Race 4 Eight finals at The Red in Montana in February and the Juarez Open in March. After a sixth-place finish in mid April’s R48 Hall of Fame, Big Game Leo was back on the prowl with a semifinal finish at May’s Aces Player’s Championship and another top three finish at the USHA Four-Wall Nationals in June. “My biggest fear is being unprepared,” Leo would tell ESPN’s Kara Mack in an interview at the Player’s Championship….

WPH Interview Series: Jerry “Bear” Vicencio
Pasadena’s Jerry “Bear” Vicencio has established himself as one of big ball’s elite, regularly challenging for big ball handball’s most important titles in Southern California. The Bear acquired his fitting nickname as a kid, nicknamed Bear because of his aggressive nature during competition. Now 29 years old, JBV has been playing handball multiple times per week for seventeen years.
JBV started playing handball at the age of twelve at Washington Park in Pasadena, CA, the place he still considers to be his home court. Washington Park was just five minutes from Jerry’s childhood home and became like his backyard….

On this edition of the WPH Coaching Center, WPH Master Instructor David Fink is joined by 2024 Race 4 Eight Player’s Cup Champion and back wall kill master Martin Mulkerrins to discuss and demonstrate the art of the back wall kill. “First you have to gauge where you think the ball is going to be, getting your feet in the correct position and getting your hand in the ready position so I can purely focus on the follow through,” stated Mulkerrins.
Listen to more of Martin’s thoughts and watch him reel off one-inch-high laser back wall kills.

On this edition of the WPH Coaching Center, WPH Master Instructor David Fink is joined by three-time 3WB World Champion and Race 4 Eight pro Shorty Ruiz to discuss and demonstrate one of Shorty’s patented shots; the left hand paddle kill.
